Chapter 1145
When the cop asked Darwin, Darwin had one thought: Fiona couldn't find out what went down today.
So the cops then called Xavier.
Xavier had thought it was a scam since it was from some small-town police station over 100 clicks from Bay City. But when they handed the phone to Darwin, Xavier, shocked, floored it to pick him up.
In the car, Fiona, eyes shut, told Christopher, "Find out why Darwin's at the police station."
"Got it!" Christopher said, jumping out and sprinting into the station without an umbrella.
He came back soon. "Mr. Solomon saw a dude abusing his daughter and beat him up. He got drenched, lost his phone, and couldn't reach you."
"Track the car he drove," Fiona said after a pause.
"On it!" Christopher replied, then asked, "Are we heading back to Emerald Pool?"
After a brief silence, Fiona said, "Yeah," and sent him a location.
Christopher saw it was near the Solomon Group but didn't ask questions. He started the car and drove away.
Darwin came out of the police station wearing backup clothes from his car. Fiona remembered another time he wore those clothes after work, smelling faintly of medicine. She felt uneasy, thinking Darwin wouldn't go straight to Emerald Pool. He'd probably clean up first.
The car sped through the rain, and Christopher played some chill music. Fiona didn't stop him, leaning back with her eyes closed.
As they reached Bay City, Xavier messaged: [Mrs. Solomon, Mr. Solomon is at Starry Century for now. He'll be back later. No need to worry.]
Fiona's eyes darkened. She had Christopher park on the side of the road, waiting in silence.
Around eleven, Xavier drove out of the garage.
"Mrs. Solomon!" Christopher alerted Fiona.
She watched Xavier's car disappear down the road. "Enter the garage," she instructed.
Christopher was puzzled, but he still complied immediately.
They parked under Building 2. Fiona sighed, "Wait in the car."
"Yes," Christopher nodded.
Fiona got out, took the elevator, and unlocked the door with her fingerprint. She stepped inside and looked around.
