Chapter 370 A Fox Can't Hide Its Tail Forever
Outside the warehouse, a light rain drizzled down, the temperature significantly colder than during the day.
Xavier and the others stood guard outside, their faces grim as they listened to the screams emanating from inside. Everyone knew Mr. Solomon usually never dirtied his hands like this...
After a while, the screams subsided, and Darwin, expression cold and composed, stepped out from the warehouse.
"Mr. Solomon!"
Xavier rushed to greet him.
Darwin looked at Xavier. “I took your years of service into account and didn't hold you responsible for Lilian's escape.”
Xavier's face turned pale instantly.
"This is your last chance. Another misstep, and you're going back where you came from."
"Understood!"
Darwin looked away, stepping into the misty night. "Make sure you leave no trace."
Xavier remained still in the rain, not daring to breathe too loudly, watching Darwin's retreating figure until it vanished from his sight.
"Boss..." After Darwin left, the other bodyguards slowly approached Xavier.
Xavier's face was dark. He glanced back at the warehouse, then strode in with purpose.
Allen was still tied to the chair, but he was now slumped on the ground.
It was rare for Xavier to make mistakes, and this was the first time Darwin had told him he might have to go back.
And all this trouble...
Was because of this damn man in front of him!
As Xavier took two steps forward, he stepped on something slick. He pulled on some gloves, bent down, and picked it up, his pupils quivering sharply as he realized what it was.
It was half a tongue...

Darwin kept a change of clothes in his car, and he swapped out his bloodstained clothes before heading home.
He arrived at exactly one in the morning and noted that the time coincidentally matched Fiona’s return the previous night.
He opened the door. Only the entryway light illuminated the living room.
He tiptoeing in, swapping his shoes, and was about to move deeper inside when the living room lights flickered on.
Fiona stood in a simple silk robe a short distance away, eyeing him. "I thought you'd stay at your place."
She sized him up. "Where have you been?"
"Just dealing with some things." Darwin approached her. "Were you waiting up for me?"
"Hardly." Fiona shot him a look that screamed 'Don't flatter yourself,' glided past him into the kitchen, and poured herself a half glass of water, gulping it down.
Darwin followed her and asked, "Guess what happened when we went to pick out the kids' room furniture today?"
She glanced at him. “What?”
"That designer just launched a DIY system, and I told Chicago to give it a try. It was mind-blowing!" Darwin handed her a business card with pride. "For you."
Accepting the card, Fiona read aloud, "A renowned painter—where'd you get this?"
"She was there today. As soon as she learned Chicago was a young prodigy, she straight away offered to take her in as her apprentice."
"Did you agree?"
Shaking his head, Darwin replied coolly, "I told her the missus calls the shots. I said I'd need your consent."
Fiona was silent.
Was Darwin getting slicker by the day?
"It's Chicago's decision. I've never interfered with her painting, and neither should you."
"Got it," he pocketed the card again.
"Let's call it a night."
With that, Fiona headed upstairs, glass of water in hand. But after a few steps, she paused and turned back.
"What's wrong?" asked a puzzled Darwin.
Without a word, Fiona reached for his neck.
He froze, his ears flushing red.
Lost in thought, he felt her fingers press against a spot on his neck, wiping vigorously.
Fiona looked down at her finger, then back at Darwin. "Where'd this blood come from?"
Darwin paused, his brow furrowing. He grabbed Fiona's hand and rushed to the sink, turning on the faucet to wash her hands.
"You could have just asked me instead of grabbing me like that. Don't you think it's gross?" Darwin's voice carried an edge of urgency.
Fiona jerked her hand away violently. "Tell me, where did that blood come from? What have you been doing?"
He looked at her, his face pale, his eyebrows knit together tightly, as he remained silent.
Fiona held back for a moment.
When she didn't get an answer, she jabbed her finger forcefully into his shoulder. "Darwin, you're a father now. You should think about accumulating some good karma for your kid. We still haven't found a bone marrow match for Charles!"
Her frustration was palpable.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke.
Darwin, bewildered, caught Fiona's hand and apologized rapidly. "I know, I know. I won't do anything bad from now on."
Fiona's frown deepened. She tried to pull her hand away again. She wanted to probe further, but decided it was pointless.
But Darwin wouldn't let go.
Instead, he pulled her closer, his hand landing on her waist.
"Darwin, have you lost your mind?" she struggled, her voice a hushed cry of alarm.
"Fiona, we're married. You don't plan to keep treating me like this forever, do you?" Darwin asked in a deep tone.
"Is that a problem?" she shot back, turning her head away, too disinterested even to look at him.
He caught her chin and turned her face back toward him. "It is a problem! I refuse to settle for this!"
Fiona met his gaze.
She let out a cold laugh, "Looks like Mr. Solomon's true colors have shown themselves in just a few days. Weren't you saying we married because of the children? What's all this now?"
"I never intended to hide my true colors," Darwin declared.
He leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.
Fiona felt like her soul was about to leave her body.
There were other people in the house. It wasn’t just her and Darwin.
Besides the kids, Janna would get up for water in the middle of the night.
Night owl Burl was surely still awake, and Thalassa had just gotten off work not long before...
If anyone came out and saw them like this, she would be utterly mortified.
Fiona wanted to bite him.
But...
Based on past experiences, she knew Darwin would bite back. Not hard enough to leave a serious mark, but certainly enough to leave a trace.
The next day, anyone could guess what happened if they saw both their lips injured. The children might not understand, but what about the adults?
When Fiona felt like she was nearly suffocating from the kiss, Darwin finally let her go, acting like a decent person for once.
She turned her head away, taking deep, desperate breaths.
Just when she thought Darwin was finally satisfied…
He leaned forward, his searing lips touching the slender fairness of her neck. Fiona felt a tingling numbness where his mouth grazed.
