Chapter 1228
Everything seemed pretty normal.
But then Chicago continued, "When you grow up, you should marry into our family so I can protect you forever!"
Charles stayed quiet.
Ashton laughed and walked over.
Melissa saw Ashton and was happy at first, but then she felt upset, her little mouth pouting and tears filling her eyes.
She reached out her tiny hand towards her.
"Did you miss me?" Ashton quickly took Melissa from Stuart's arms.
"She woke up and played with me the whole time without crying once!" Stuart was totally confused.
Admittedly, he did have some experience with childcare.
Even though he didn't remember much, seeing Chicago and Charles healthy and thriving, he figured he must've been pretty good at taking care of babies before. So, he felt confident taking care of Melissa.
Melissa was cooperative too, not crying all afternoon, which boosted Stuart's confidence even more.
Who knew...
"She's just being clingy." Ashton kissed Melissa's cheek. "She missed me."
Melissa whimpered a bit in Ashton's arms, feeling all sad.
"Mom, I need to work on my bug-catching lamp a bit more, I'm heading upstairs," Charles tugged on Fiona's finger.
"Alright. Do you need help from your dad or me?" Fiona asked.
"No, it's almost done." Charles waved his hand and then slowly went upstairs.
After they came back, the house suddenly became lively again.
During dinner, Stella made a video call.
She looked much better.
These past few days, Fiona had been so busy that she hadn't checked on her.
Originally, Stella and Alexander, who were traveling around the country, suddenly got interested and went to Radiance Isle, saying the climate there was super comfy and they wanted to stay for a month.
As for the stuff about Darwin, Fiona thought about it and decided not to tell Stella.
First, the fewer people who knew, the better.
Second, Mason died at the hands of a mentally ill person.
After the call ended, Chicago pestered Ashton, wanting them to go camping too.
Ashton was really into the idea.
But...
"No, Melissa is too young, and the weather in the wild can be unpredictable. What if Melissa gets sick? Besides, Ashton and Kenny would be super tired. When Melissa gets a bit older, there will be plenty of chances." Fiona reasonably refused Chicago's suggestion.
Although Chicago looked disappointed, after thinking about it, she didn't want Melissa to get sick or Ashton to be too tired, so she reluctantly agreed.
"Melissa, I'll bring you back a gift!" She ran to Ashton and leaned affectionately against Melissa, even getting a face full of drool, but Chicago didn't mind.
"Chicago, you should go back to your room and pack the gear you need for tomorrow's trip," Fiona reminded.
Chicago reluctantly kissed Melissa. "Melissa, once I'm done packing, I'll come back to play with you."
After Chicago left, Ashton picked up the little clay octopus. "Everything Chicago makes is a work of art!"
She said happily, looking at Kenny. "Kenny, we need to start preparing a gift room, specifically to display the gifts Chicago makes for Melissa! These are all unique handmade pieces from a future great artist, their value will be priceless!"
