Chapter 1465
"Let's just drop it," Chicago said seriously, looking at Brady. "Your happiness is what matters most!"
"Then I can go find him!" Brady slapped his thigh. "You haven't told me yet, which school is Ethan at now?"
Anna was sharp, sensing something off. Seeing Brady ask so eagerly, Anna scolded, "You haven't even sorted out your study abroad plans yet, why are you in such a rush? Fiona and I have important things to discuss. You kids, go on now!"
Charlotte also sensed something was up.
She quickly found an excuse and took the Chicago group away.
Once the kids were gone, Anna turned her gaze to Fiona. "Did something happen to Ethan?"
Fiona sighed.
"He dropped out at the start of the new school year and then disappeared."
"Dropped out?" Anna was shocked. "He's so young, in a foreign country, making such big decisions without consulting any adults? What about his host family?"
"They moved out, too," Fiona said, lowering her eyes. "He doesn't want any more contact with us."
"How is he surviving out there?" Anna asked sternly.
"We gave him some money initially, but he returned it before disappearing. He even closed his original account." Fiona's expression grew more sorrowful. "I went there myself and searched for a week but found no trace of him."
Anna felt a sense of foreboding.
Such a young child, in a foreign country, without money, dropping out of school, leaving his host family, and then vanishing.
"Did you check with the host family?" Anna suddenly asked.
Fiona nodded.
After Ethan went missing, Fiona couldn't find him anywhere and naturally feared the worst.
Her first suspicion was the host family.
But the host family showed her a letter Ethan had left behind.
It was brief, thanking the host parents for their care and leaving two thousand dollars as a token of appreciation.
He didn't take any of the clothes the host family had bought for him.
He only took the luggage he had brought from home.
The host family's security camera captured Ethan leaving.
He was carrying the suitcase Fiona had last seen him with at the airport, slowly walking away from the host family's house, his figure gradually disappearing into the mist.
That was the last time Ethan was caught on camera.
Anna frowned deeply. "He must have deliberately avoided the cameras, not wanting anyone to track him."
"Yes," Fiona responded.
Anna gently squeezed her shoulder. "Ethan is very thoughtful and smart. He wouldn't do this on a whim; he must have planned it out carefully. He'll be okay."
Fiona knew this too, but she still felt immense guilt."From the way you acted earlier, Chicago doesn't know yet?"
"If she knew, she'd be worried sick," Fiona rubbed her temples. "She's already upset about Ethan leaving so suddenly."
"Kids forget things quickly. If no one brings it up, she'll forget in time," Anna said, slapping her thigh. "It must have been Brady who brought up Ethan! I'll give him a piece of my mind later!"
Fiona laughed. "Don't do that!"
"Alright, how about you join me for a drink?"
"Sure."
The two of them got up and started walking back.
Neither of them noticed that Chicago was hiding behind a decorative plant nearby. After all, she was a genius little artist. Even though she played around all day, her grades were always in the top ten of her class.
How could she be a little fool?
When Ethan was mentioned earlier, Fiona's eyes showed some guilt.
So, although she had left, she had turned back halfway.
She had heard everything about Ethan leaving the host family and disappearing.
