Chapter 73 Unless You're Dead!

There was this tiny stall just outside the neighborhood fence.

Fiona was holding her phone, realizing the other end was dead silent.

She hung up and blocked Harold's number.

She opened the door.

Thalassa, smelling all nice, came running over.

"You didn't head back?" Fiona asked.

"What happened to your face?" Thalassa immediately noticed the red mark on her cheek.

Fiona felt helpless.

How much did Anniston hate her? That slap was brutal.

"Ran into a nutjob." Fiona raised her hand. "I got an orange cake, wanna split it?"

"Where'd the nutjob come from? Weren't you at the nursing home?" Thalassa was heartbroken.

"Isn't it normal to have crazies in a nursing home?" Fiona pulled Thalassa to the living room, then opened the cake box, splitting it in half.

"Where is she? I'll go find her! Even a crazy person can't just hit people!"

Fiona shoved the cake into her hand. "She took off ages ago. I'm really fine. Just eat!"

Thalassa angrily forked a big piece of cake and stuffed it into her mouth.

Fiona took a bite too.

The taste she used to love now felt different.

The next second, she got up, covered her mouth, and ran to the bathroom, puking violently.

It seemed today's events had upset the baby too, making her feel awful.

Thalassa hurriedly followed Fiona to the bathroom.

Seeing Fiona vomit, she didn't know what was going on.

A flash of realization hit her, and Thalassa froze.

Fiona finished puking.

"You..." Thalassa's fingers were trembling.

"Me?" Fiona got up and calmly walked to the sink to rinse her mouth.

"Are you pregnant?" Thalassa finally asked.

Fiona was silent for a moment.

"Yeah, almost three months now." She answered, her tone still calm. "Found out during the check-up you took me to last time."

Thalassa's face turned pale.

Then she took out her phone. "Don't worry, I'll make an appointment for you now, we'll get it taken care of tomorrow! It's still early. It won't be a big problem, don't be scared."

"Thalassa, I want this baby." Fiona interrupted her.

"Why? What do you want?" Thalassa was furious. "Do you think it's a kitten or a puppy? This is a child!"

Fiona said, "It's also my only blood relative in this world."

Thalassa froze in place, tears rolling down her face.

"Does that bastard know?" she asked, crying.

"Don't let him know." Fiona became serious. "Darwin won't let me have his child!"

"How long can you hide it?" Thalassa was anxious. "Isn't he forcing you to stay now?"

"So, for the baby's sake, I have to find a way to get out quickly," Fiona said solemnly.

Thalassa was usually carefree.

But when it came to serious matters, she was always reliable.

"There are only two ways to get out. First, Darwin gets tired of you." Thalassa paused. "Second, you die!"

Only these two ways would ensure Darwin wouldn't harm the people Fiona wanted to protect.

"Die?" Fiona knew Thalassa wouldn't really let her die.

"Yeah!" Thalassa nodded. "This way, we can solve the problem once and for all. If he gets tired of you, he might remember you one day and come looking for you."

"What do we do?" Fiona asked.

The logic was solid. But how to pull it off?

"Let me think." Thalassa lowered her eyes. "There's gotta be a way, let me wreck my brian!"

"Me too." Fiona nodded.

She suddenly lost her appetite for the orange cake she loved.

Thalassa, feeling heavy-hearted, finished both portions.

Before bed, she stared at Fiona's belly.

"Alright." Fiona couldn't help but laugh, pulling her to lie down.

After a while, she was about to fall asleep.

Thalassa suddenly sat up. "As the godmother, I will definitely protect your son!"

Fiona raised her arm to cover her eyes. "How come I didn't know about this godmother thing? And it might be a daughter?"

"I don't care, this child, whether a son or a daughter, will have only one godmother, and that's me!"

Fiona laughed.

Thalassa hummed and lay back down.

Then she turned to look at Fiona.

Fiona simply turned to face her too.

"Fiona, even if we come up with a perfect plan, have you thought about the difficulties of being a single mom?" Thalassa asked, heartbroken.

Fiona thought for a moment. "I've been through tougher times, and her existence makes me happy."

Thalassa inexplicably started crying again.

Fiona raised her hand to wipe her tears. "Thalassa, I'm really happy to have a friend like you."

"Of course, I'm great." Thalassa said, then started crying again, "I just think it's so unfair, you're so kind, why does God give you so many hardships!"

Fiona didn't say anything.

Maybe fate was indeed unfair to her.

But what could she do?

The next day, Thalassa went to work with swollen eyes from crying.

Most of the stuff Fiona packed last time was still unpacked. Almost everything was moved back as it was.

The moving organizer was called again.

Looking puzzled, they put everything back in place.

By evening, everything was finally in order.

Fiona paid and sent off the organizer.

She looked around.

It was as if she had just woken up from a dream, and everything was back to where it was.

When Fiona moved back, Darwin was in a meeting at the company.

The argument they had yesterday left him in a foul mood.

However, knowing Fiona moved back, Darwin's mood improved significantly.

After a whole day of meetings, he couldn't wait to go to the apartment.

But then, the office door was knocked.

A familiar figure entered with coffee.

Darwin was already a bit tired, and for a moment, he thought it was Fiona.

But the next moment, he saw clearly who it was, and his face darkened instantly.

Bella, from head to toe, her hairstyle, clothes, and high heels were exactly like Fiona's.

"Mr. Solomon, your coffee," she said sweetly, handing over the coffee.

Unexpectedly, Darwin waved his hand, and Bella screamed.

The coffee cup flew out and spilled everywhere.

"What are you doing?" Darwin asked in disgust.

"I..." Bella looked at Darwin, looking frightened. "Darwin, I just wanted to make you happy, isn't this what you like? If Fiona can do it, so can I! She doesn't truly care about you, look at this!"

As she spoke, Bella took out Fiona's work notebook.
