Chapter 1469

Time flew, and the years passed quickly.

In what felt like no time at all, Janna had been retired for almost 16 years.

She originally planned to retire on the island, despite Fiona's attempts to convince her otherwise.

But she only stayed for about two weeks, finding the place too quiet. Mike spent his days staring off into the distance, looking lost.

Stuart was also downhearted; the soil on Blaise wasn't good for growing many plants.

The seedlings he had carefully nurtured withered quickly after being transplanted.

The worst part was leaving Armie just as the fruits and vegetables were ready for harvest.

In the spring, Stuart and Chicago had worked together to build a greenhouse, planting watermelon seeds that Darwin had brought.

By the time they left, the watermelons on the vines were already as big as Chicago's head.

Stuart thought about them constantly.

Whenever he had a moment, he would hold his phone and watch the surveillance footage Charles had set up in the greenhouse.

Janna always thought she liked peace, but after living on the island for over two weeks, she started to feel lonely.

Although she enjoyed the tranquility without the noise of children for the first few days, she began to miss it after a while.

Just then, news came from Armie that Bay City was suddenly hit by an influenza outbreak. Fiona and Darwin were both away on business trips and couldn't return immediately.

Janna watched her lively great-granddaughter, now feverish and weak, lying in bed through the surveillance footage, and her heart broke.

She immediately packed her things, arranged for a private plane, and returned to Armie.

Since then, Janna has been living out her retirement in Armie.

Today marked her 16th year of retirement and her 90th birthday.

Thanks to the meticulous care of her descendants, Janna was still full of energy at ninety.

Emerald Pool remains as it was over a decade ago.

The forests were even more lush, and the distant farms and flower gardens, tended by Stuart, were thriving.

Janna wore a velvet suit paired with a set of emerald jewelry, looking regal and commanding.

"I haven't seen Charles and Chicago for three or four months. How are these kids busier than you adults?" Janna asked Fiona.

Fiona's face showed little sign of aging, but her demeanor had matured significantly.

She smiled warmly, "Grandma, Charles and Chicago came back for their 23rd birthday last time, not their 3rd. They're adults now."

Janna seemed momentarily taken aback.

She glanced at the newly updated family photo and smiled, "Yes, they've all grown up in the blink of an eye."

"Janna!" A playful voice called from outside the door.

Janna's face lit up with joy, "No, there's still one who hasn't grown up!"

As she spoke, the door swung open.

A lively young girl, pushing two suitcases, burst into the room with a flourish.

Before Fiona could react, the girl joyfully shouted and hugged Fiona.

"Melissa!"

Darwin, having just finished washing some fruit, saw Melissa crash into Fiona's arms.

He immediately scolded, "Melissa!"
