Chapter 664 Tear Her Disguise
Fiona's instincts flared with danger, but before she could react, Annie moved first.
A sharp pain shot through Fiona's back, darkness engulfed her, and she lost consciousness.
Annie stood over her, electric shock device in hand, a manic grin spreading across her face as she beheld Fiona's unconscious form.
"Hathaway," she whispered, her voice tinged with madness. "The real vengeance begins now. Are you watching? I'll avenge you!"
Fifteen minutes later, the security guards outside Annie's room exchanged glances at the time.
"Has the Madam been in there too long?" one asked.
"She was utterly terrified. It'll take more than a few words to calm her down," the other replied.
"You're right."
Another ten minutes passed.
Darwin's phone rang.
"Mr. Solomon!"
"Where is the Madam?" Darwin's voice was low and urgent.
"She's in Miss Annie's room," the security guard responded.
"Open the door immediately. Let the madam take the call!" Darwin commanded.
"Yes, sir!"
The guard knocked, but there was no answer.
With a sinking feeling, they used a spare key, swung open the door, and rushed in.
The suite appeared undisturbed, yet both women were nowhere to be found.
"Where's the Madam?" Darwin's voice crackled over the phone.
"Mr. Solomon, Mr. Solomon, the Madam's gone, and so is Annie! We didn't leave our post; they couldn't have vanished!" the guard exclaimed.
A thunderous crash reverberated in Darwin's mind.
It felt as though his blood ran cold.
Moments ago, he'd been planning to buy Fiona's favorite food and head home after a call that wouldn't connect.
He knew Annie had been poisoned, and Fiona had gone to her.
How could a hotel have communication issues?
Darwin felt like he was treading on thin ice.
He immediately contacted Annie's security detail.
To his horror, they confirmed his wife's disappearance.
Darwin rushed to the hotel with his team.
The hotel was sealed off; no one could enter or leave.
He hastened to Annie's room.
Security had already discovered the cause of the disappearance.
There was a connection between this guest room and the one below.
In the downstairs suite, Darwin found Fiona's pearl earrings.
What stunned Darwin more came next.
"Have you checked the surveillance cameras?" Darwin asked the security personnel, his frustration mounting.
The personnel sweated nervously. "Mr. Solomon, all cameras are broken."
"Broken? Since when? How incompetent! I tasked you with guarding Annie, yet you didn't even notice the cameras were down?" Darwin exploded.
"No, sir, the footage's been overwritten. We see recordings, but they're not current," the head of security explained, feeling suffocated.
Annie missing was concerning, but Fiona's disappearance heightened fear!
When Fiona woke, her back ached, and she couldn't straighten.
"You're up?" Annie's voice, cold, cut through.
Fiona met Annie's gaze, tied up. "Twice I've been kidnapped, both by your Ross family. What fate is this?"
"Did he touch you? Strange. Isn't Darwin clean? Is this love?" Annie's tone dripped with contempt.
"Unless there's a change, after your father's death, the Ross family is yours. Why create chaos?" Fiona countered. "Do you want Ross, Rhoads, and Solomon at odds? Can Ross resist both?"
"If Hathaway hadn't died, maybe. Now, I seek justice for her," Annie shrugged. "You and Hathaway weren't close?"
"That's what you saw. Hathaway was my beloved sister, and this pen was her gift to me," Annie showed the broken cap. "Do you know how much I hate you all?"
Fiona stayed silent, plotting escape.
"Hathaway fell for Darwin at a party. She begged me to bring him," Annie revealed, staring at the pen. "Later, she heard Solomons sought an alliance with Darwin."
"You ruined everything. Why entangle with Darwin? Hathaway wouldn't suffer," Annie accused. "Lilian's dead, you're trapped!"
Fiona met Annie's madness.
"You're clever. Can't you know if I was with Darwin?" Fiona challenged.
"That doesn't matter. I'll convict you," Annie declared, grabbing a syringe. "You're bait for Darwin. In seven days, your organs decay."
Fiona fretted, not about decay, but Darwin's reaction.
In moments, Annie neared, needle aimed.
