Chapter 505 The Walker Family's Warrior Woman

"Here we are," Matt spoke, his voice deep and commanding.

“Dad,“ Thalassa called obediently.

Matt nodded, then picked something up from the table and handed it to Thalassa.

Thalassa was puzzled.

It was a check with a significant amount.

"Dad..." Thalassa began, confused. "Kenny and I are actually already married. You should keep the check; this marriage isn't going anywhere."

Matt was taken aback. "Divorce? What divorce? Who’s talking about divorce?"

"Thalassa, that's just a little something from Dad for changing your last name." Kenny came up behind Thalassa, patting her head.

Thalassa was speechless.

She should've known better than to binge-watch all those romantic dramas.
She desperately wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.

‘Millions to just walk away? That's an outrageous severance package!’ she thought.

"Don’t worry, no one from my family will write you a check to get you to leave me," Kenny said with a smile, taking the check from Thalassa and examining the amount, clearly satisfied. "Thanks, Dad."

Thalassa snapped back to reality, quickly echoing, “Thanks, Dad.”

Matt nodded, wondering if he had been too stern.

Despite the excitement of meeting her son's wife for the first time, he knew creating a scene like a jealous spouse wouldn't be the best first impression.

Ranting and raving with no decorum.

For Thalassa, meeting relatives was a confusing whirlwind.

His older brother and sister-in-law, his second brother and sister-in-law.

And then his grandaunts on both sides.

With each introduction, her hand gained another check.

Both grandaunts gifted her a bracelet—one lush green, the other made of premium jade.

Finally, all of Kenny's relatives had been met.

Kenny led Thalassa back to his room.

The door closed behind them.

Thalassa collapsed onto the couch.

"Tired?" Kenny sat beside her, massaging her shoulder.

Thalassa shook her head.

Then, looking at Kenny, she said, “Do you always talk me up around them? Everyone was so kind to me, so gentle.”

It was completely different from any relatives she had encountered before.

"It’s not that big a deal," Kenny said, pulling up one leg, turning towards her, his elbow resting on the back of the couch, his eyes smiling at her. “I don’t communicate much with my family. They like you because you are visibly great.”

"Do they know about my family and my past?" Thalassa asked quietly.

Human nature is peculiar in that regard. When one has nothing, there's little to worry about. But once something precious is acquired, concerns and anxieties emerge. There's a fear that mistakes made in the past, even those from childhood, might come back to haunt you in the present.

“Although it's rather abrupt, of course, they would investigate you and your ancestors as soon as they knew I was married,” Kenny stated, somewhat helplessly. “As for your past, are you talking about your relationship with Chris?”

“Yes.”

Thalassa looked down, let out a sigh.

Her relationship with Chris was practically a scandal in the world of the elite.

Then, suddenly, Kenny burst out laughing. “Then, you have even less to worry about. The women in our family, each has had a colorful past. Did you know that my Mom was famous in Cambridge for her exploits with men before marrying Dad?”

“And my grandaunt fell for a young journalist, defied her family to elope with him. Later, when she found out he was a traitor to the country, she didn’t hesitate to shoot him and then returned home.

“Later on, the old gal was pushing fifty when she got hitched to a man twenty years her junior. It was quite the sensation at the time.”

"And then?" Thalassa had just noticed there were no men by her grandmother’s side.

"They got along famously. Her husband was a physics professor at the school. He'd bring her flowers every day after class. Sadly, he passed away from lung cancer ten years ago," Kenny replied.

"Oh..." Thalassa's head drooped.

"There are plenty more tales like that. Wanna hear 'em?" Kenny teased, flicking Thalassa's hair playfully.

Thalassa pondered. "Is it really okay to gossip about our elders behind their backs like this?"

Kenny glanced at Thalassa, then suddenly pounced, pinning her down on the couch, showering her with kisses.

Thalassa's breath was short.

When Kenny finally stopped, his eyes glowed as he gazed at her and said softly, "Babe, you're so sweet, who wouldn't love you?"

Dizzy from the flurry of kisses, Thalassa found herself trying to recall the conversation that preceded this affectionate outburst.

How did Kenny come to the conclusion that she was a good girl?

But she wasn't good—according to Maria, she was naughty, and Chris labeled her a rebel.

Perhaps, they were lying.

However, Kenny wouldn't deceive her.

"Kenny, my lipstick is all smudged," Thalassa chided, playfully swatting him.

With a chuckle, Kenny leaned in and tenderly kissed her lips twice more. "That's for the question you asked earlier."

Thalassa couldn't remember what question she was asking.

Kenny explained, "The elders won't mind. They're likely to proudly recount their heroic past to you repeatedly."

"Okay," Thalassa considered, "Your family seems so endearing."

Nothing like the Darwin type of tycoons.

"In a bit, I'm heading to Dad's study with my big and middle brothers. Mom said she wants to take you shopping. Interested?"

"Yeah." Thalassa nodded. "You sure she won't hand me a check and ask me to leave?"

Kenny burst into laughter, bending down to embrace Thalassa and nuzzling into her neck.

They both giggled together.

Shortly after, Thalassa freshened up her makeup and clothes. She joined Kenny for a meal in the dining room, where everyone seemed eager to heap food into her bowl, as if afraid she'd go hungry.

Charles, Kenny's older brother with a robust build, was munching away when he suddenly sauntered up to Thalassa with big, curious eyes.

Experienced with kids, Thalassa wasn't fazed at all. Putting her chopsticks down, she smiled warmly, "Hello there, I'm the new auntie around here."

She had barely introduced herself.

Embarrassed, the child quickly scurried back to the safety of his mother's side, seeking refuge.

His retreat prompted laughter from everyone in the restaurant.

After lunch, Thalassa handed out lucky money to the children as a kind gesture while Charles watched on.

Before Kenny could even set foot in his father's study, the formidable Walker women swept her away in their shopping whirlwind.

They practically cleaned out every store in the mall with their spree.

Once they had their fill of shopping, they settled down in a café to relax.

"Mom, sister-in-law, you guys bought way too much for me," Thalassa said, finally coming to his senses after the overwhelming spree.

His sister-in-law simply shook her head in response.

Scarlet put her coffee cup down and said, "Darling, compared to how much you mean to us, this is nothing. With Kenny back, our home feels lively again. We don't have to worry anymore about him getting upset one day and deciding to dissect the whole family."
