Chapter 1163

If 'Darwin' could touch Darwin, could he touch other folks too?

When Darwin had this wild thought, he didn't even realize he'd already cooked up someone who wasn't real.

Later, the doc said Darwin couldn't tell what's real from what was in his head anymore.

In the hall, Fiona was slipping into her comfy slippers by the elevator.

"When did you two get so chummy?" Fiona teased, spotting Darwin and Burl together.

Burl let out a sigh. "You gals are something else. When Darwin and I were at each other's throats, you blamed me. Now that we're cool, you tease us!"

"No worries, I'll discuss with Ashton later, and we'll hook you up with a reward!" Fiona said.

"That's great!" Burl said, wrapping up his job of escorting Darwin. Humming a tune, he strolled to the living room.

He still wasn't a big fan of Darwin. Darwin used to be a real pain, and now he was disabled. The doc couldn't figure out what was wrong, but his leg just wouldn't work. Who knew when it would get better?

"Why'd you go upstairs?" Fiona asked Darwin. "You don't look so hot. You okay?"

Darwin shook his head and showed her the iPad. "Chicago needs to check her small warehouse inventory. Charles whipped up a program for her on the iPad to track the farm's harvest every week."

"Charles is always making these quirky things for her." Fiona took the iPad and held Darwin's hand. His hand was usually warm, but today it felt cold.

"Just washed my hands, a bit chilly," Darwin said quickly. "Warm it up for me."

Fiona smiled and squeezed his hand. "Let's go, give her the iPad."

"Okay," Darwin nodded.

As they walked to the living room, Darwin asked, "Done with work stuff?"

Fiona shook her head. "Nah, not that quick."

Her tone was normal, and Darwin couldn't sense anything off. He sighed in relief.

"Lyold's cooking has gotten way better. The fish soup she made was bomb, just how you like it," Darwin said.

Lyold had stopped tailing Chicago closely and focused on cooking. She was worried about losing her job since she wasn't great at anything specific. Janna, Chelsea, and Darwin were all perfectionists, so she decided to up her cooking game, mainly to please Fiona. In this family, if Fiona was happy, everything was cool.

Darwin praised the fish soup, so it must have been good. But Fiona, sitting at the bar watching her family plan a camping trip, felt a hint of bitterness. She couldn't taste the soup's deliciousness.

The next day, life went back to the usual. Darwin headed to the Solomon Group, the kids went to school, and Fiona took Janna to the airport before heading to Monsoon Investment.
