Chapter 1057
Abigail's case ended just like that.
When Fiona brought Chicago home, she happened to run into Arnold's family.
Surprisingly, Fiona did not see a scene of overwhelming grief.
A young couple came, and when they talked to Scarlet, there wasn't a trace of sadness on their faces.
"We met them yesterday when we came back," Stella said to Fiona, "It's Arnold's son and daughter-in-law. I heard he lost his wife early on and raised his son alone. But his son is a selfish person who only knows how to ask Arnold for money. The woman he married isn't good to Arnold either."
Stella frowned as she spoke, "Every time Arnold went back, they took anything out on him. Yet, the house they live in and the car they drive were all bought by him! Now that he is dead, they've received a hefty compensation, and they don't look sad at all."
Stella got angrier as she spoke.
"How could Aunt Scarlet, such a shrewd person, knowing Arnold's son is like this, still give them money?" She was furious.
Fiona gently patted her back to comfort her, "Arnold died at the Walker family, and legally, the employer does have an obligation to compensate. Besides..."
She looked at Scarlet.
Scarlet's face showed no emotion.
Fiona added, "Aunt Scarlet is also doing one last thing for Arnold, for his son."
The feelings between parents and children were the most complicated in this world.
Fiona had also interacted with Arnold, who had a strong sense of principles and was very disciplined.
Logically, with Philip Sanders treating him like this, he could have completely ignored him. But Arnold still gave Philip money year after year.
Perhaps, even before he died, what he worried about and cared for was still Philip.
So, no matter how much Scarlet disliked them, she would still give the money.
Not for anything else, just to let Arnold rest in peace.
"Alright." Stella sighed helplessly.
Meanwhile, Philip, who had received the money, planned to go to the funeral home to take Arnold away.
"Mrs. Walker, thank you so much for taking care of my dad all these years. If you ever need anything from us, just let us know!" Philip said ingratiatingly.
He had failed in all his investments over the years.
If he could get a job at the Walker family, that would be even better.
Scarlet felt disgusted just looking at Philip.
"Sure." she nodded. "You young people don't understand many things. I'll have someone go with you to help handle your father's funeral. We've also selected a cemetery for your father."
"Cemetery?" Janet Sanders, who was Philip's wife, asked in a confused vioce.
She pondered, 'Cemeteries were so expensive now, costing hundreds of thousands dollars.'
"Mrs. Walker, we were planning to send my Dad to the countryside to be buried with my Mom," Philip stammered.
Scarlet's gaze immediately darkened.
"Buried with your mom? Scatter the ashes into the river?" She couldn't bear it anymore. "Your hometown was flooded twenty years ago because of the dam construction. Can you still find your mom's grave?"
Her imposing manner made the couple in front of her shiver.
How could they dare to say anything? That was exactly what they had in mind.
However, in front of Scarlet, they didn't dare to say it.
The compensation Scarlet promised hadn't been received yet.
