Chapter 987

"My books?" Alexander asked, somewhat puzzled. "Are they the ones I used to read?"

Mason shook his head. "No, they are the books you were punished to copy. There are several big boxes of them. I dried them in the sun for a long time!"

Alexander was slightly taken aback.

Mason, unaware of his reaction, happily ran off to find Liam.

"Father Ben still kept the books I copied," Alexander said, glancing at Stella, his eyes a bit red.

Stella squeezed his hand. "I told you, he must have been thinking about you all these ten years."

Alexander looked at Stella, a slight smile appearing on his lips, and he nodded gently.

It wasn't long before Liam came over with Mason.

"Liam," Alexander called out.

Liam bowed politely. "Are the mother and child you visited doing well?"

"Thanks to your concern, both of them are doing very well!" Stella replied.

Liam nodded. "Are you staying to volunteer again this time?"

"Yes!" Stella nodded. "Liam, can we see Father Ben this time?"

Liam lowered his eyes, avoiding Stella's gaze.

"Please settle in first. I will ask Father Ben about it," Liam said, then looked at Mason behind him. "Take them to have a meal."

"Yes!" Mason urged Stella and Alexander, "Hurry up, or we'll miss the mealtime!"

Before leaving, Stella said to Liam, "Liam, remember to talk to Father Ben. Whether we can see him this time depends on you!"

Liam remained silent.

There were even more volunteers in the monastery than the last time they visited.

"You said earlier that the beds were tight, and I thought you were kidding me. But there really are so many people!" Stella whispered to Mason.

Mason smiled broadly. "I never lie!"

"Stella, you're here again!" As they were speaking, they ran into a familiar face, a volunteer who had gotten along well with Stella before.

Although there were some newcomers, most of the volunteers from Stella's last visit were still there. There was no need for Mason to arrange anything. With just a few words, Stella had a room to stay in.

Those who had previously discussed with Alexander, upon hearing that Alexander and Stella were back to volunteer, happily came over to greet them.

"Mr. Beaumont's understanding of books is truly enlightening!" The senior volunteer whispered to Stella while other volunteers surrounded Alexander, "I dare say he understands better than many devout believers!"

Stella smiled but did not respond. She looked at Alexander, her thoughts drifting.

If Alexander had not given up back then, he would surely have become a revered preacher, wouldn't he?

Lost in such whimsical thoughts, she suddenly understood why Father Ben still couldn't let go after ten years.

The volunteers went about their tasks, and Alexander returned.

He asked, "What are you thinking about?"

His beautiful fingers waved gently in front of Stella's eyes.

Stella came back to her senses and shook her head. "This clam chowder is delicious!"

She pushed the clam chowder towards Alexander. "Mason recommended it!"

Alexander smiled gently and elegantly finished the clam chowder Stella had pushed over.

Stella watched him.
