Chapter 1280
"Did you check him out? What do you think?" Fiona asked Alexander, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Mr. Solomon's just overthinking things," Alexander replied slowly.
"Yeah, pretty much," Fiona agreed, quickly changing the topic. "Stella looks a lot better. What's next for you? More world traveling?"
"Yep," Alexander nodded. "Before we head out, I'll give you a list of meds. Preston's in Armie right now, but I'll have him swing by regularly to check on you and see if we need to tweak anything."
"Thanks," Fiona nodded. "My grandma's back too. Could you check on her health later?"
"Sure," Alexander agreed without asking more about Darwin.
He wrote up the medication list for Fiona.
Janna had just finished her tasks and came out, so he checked her health too.
He made some changes to her previous medication list.
Time flew by as things got busy.
Before they knew it, evening had arrived.
Fiona, Ashton, and Stella were chilling on deck chairs by the lake, soaking in the endless view.
Stella never mentioned Darwin, and neither did Fiona or Ashton.
But eventually, Stella brought up someone else. "I ran into Wyatt's mom in the capital recently. She seemed like a different person, not arrogant anymore, just really quiet. When she saw Alexander and me from a distance, she just nodded and didn't bother us."
"Haven't you heard? The Durham Family's been under a ton of pressure lately. The board's doing everything they can to force Wyatt's parents to give up their shares," Ashton said.
Even though Janna and Fiona supported the Durham Family, the Durham Group was in a serious crisis.
"Who do you think Wyatt's loyal to?" Stella asked irritably. "Where's he been all this time?"
If she had been this resolute from the start, maybe she and Wyatt wouldn't have become strangers.
Now he was gone and had started a new life.
But did it even matter?
She didn't love him anymore; they could never go back to how they were.
"A person bound all their life will always have a time when they want to break free," Fiona murmured.
She thought of Aiden, who was truly bound for life, compared to Wyatt.
The next morning, Fiona got up early with Janna to go grocery shopping.
Wyatt's call came through.
This time it wasn't a satellite phone but his old number.
"Mr. Durham, what made you think of calling me?" Fiona teased while picking tomatoes.
Wyatt gave a weak smile, "I'm back in the capital city."
"That's good. The Durham family's situation is almost out of control, and Grandma Janna and I can barely manage," Fiona said calmly, as if discussing how the tomatoes in the supermarket were particularly big and fresh today.
"I called Darwin, but his phone was off," Wyatt coughed lightly. "Is everything okay?"
"Everything's fine. Take care of yourself first. I'll send someone from my team to the capital later to bring you any documents or files you need," Fiona replied.
"Thank you, Fiona," Wyatt said sincerely.
"You're the hero in Charles and Chicago's eyes; it's the least I can do," Fiona said more seriously, then added, "Wyatt, now that you're back, don't let those who want to destroy the Durham family succeed."
