Chapter 121 Fiona Meets Lilian

Darwin puts out the cigarette and asked "What brings you here?"

"I...I woke up and didn't see you. I got scared..." Lilian whispered, "Are you smoking?"

"Just relieving stress," Darwin replied as he walked over, "It's cold outside, let's go back to the ward."

"You didn't use to smoke before," Lilian murmured, "Did I make you annoyed?"

"Lilian, you have to get rid of these thoughts. You have to live for yourself, stop worrying about who will be annoyed or who likes or dislikes it!" Darwin said in a deep voice.

Honestly, Lilian's dependence on him made it hard for him to breathe. Yet he couldn't just abandon Lilian!

"I understand, I will! Please don't be angry!" Lilian immediately said.

Darwin suddenly felt deflated, like a balloon losing air. "Let's go, back to the ward."

Lilian obediently followed him back to the ward.

Around the same time, Fiona was awakened by a nightmare. She sat up in bed, feeling a bit dizzy.
She got up and went to the living room to find a thermometer, and she had a low-grade fever.

She guessed it was because she had exhausted herself during the day, sweating and experiencing temperature changes which led to the fever.

Wrapped in a small blanket, Fiona sat on the small sofa in the living room, called the local pharmacy for a fever-reducing medicine for pregnant women, and used a cooling patch.

She waited for about half an hour for the medicine to be delivered. Fiona took the medicine, applied the cooling patch, and crawled back into bed. She used to complain that Darwin was too hot, but now that he wasn't here, the bed seemed colder and she couldn't sleep comfortably.

The next day, Fiona woke up after nine o'clock. She checked her body temperature again, and the fever was gone. She just felt a bit weak. She got up and went to the wardrobe to pick out a set of warm clothes. She also put on a white knitted cap.

Feeling warm and cozy, she prepared to go out. Passing by the study, she took a quick glance inside. Upon leaving, Fiona looked at the warmly decorated house. At that moment, she thought this would be a normal visit.

Little did she know, the next time she returned to her aparatment, it would be many years later.

Fiona went to Grandma's sandwich shop downstairs and had a baguette sandwich.

Then she bought a big bunch of roses and headed towards the private hospital where Emma was located.

Emma specifically requested roses.

She said only vibrant red roses matched her fiery personality.

Fiona found the room number according to what Emma had given her.

As she approached, she paid close attention to the door numbers.

"Miss Adorable, over here!"

Just as she was looking, Emma sneakily peeked out of the room.

And lo and behold, Fiona was standing right outside Darwin's room.

She quickly greeted her.

"Emma!"

Fiona went over with the flowers in her arms.

Emma pulled her into the room, and as she hung onto her arm, with her head wrapped in bandages, Emma smiled and hug Fiona.

"Is your head okay?" Fiona asked worriedly.

"Just a minor concussion!" Emma nodded as she spoke, "Curly hair suits you better indeed!"

Fiona smiled and handed the flowers to Emma: "Wishing you a speedy recovery. Let's have some spicy hot pot!"

"I'll remember that!"

Emma held the flowers with one hand and placed them on the bedside table.

Fiona was about to sit down.

But Emma hooked her arm and said, "Don't sit. It's rare to have such good weather outside. Help me downstairs to the small garden for some sun?"

"Sure!"

Fiona glanced at the window. The sunlight was indeed beautiful. She herself had enjoyed it on the way here. She felt much better now. Just like that, they left.

Emma hurriedly pulled Fiona into the elevator. For a moment, Fiona couldn't tell if Emma was really injured or faking it!

Emma thought, if they didn't go downstairs quickly, how could they catch Darwin red-handed?

Earlier today, Emma had observed the ward area where they were discreetly , hidden away.

Before Fiona arrived, Darwin had pushed the wheelchair with the woman and gone outside to sunbathe. They were by the fountain now.

"How long are you planning to stay this time?" Fiona asked Emma.

Emma hesitated. If Darwin saw her in a little while, then she didn't need to consider how long to stay, she could just reach heaven directly.

"Miss Adorable!"

Emma stopped in her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Fiona asked.

"Promise me first, no matter what happens, you won't tell Darwin that I'm back!"

Seeing how serious Emma was, Fiona thought something big had happened. But it was just this, right?!

"I know, not only Darwin, but also Wyatt, right?" Fiona intentionally prolonged the conversation.

Back then, Wyatt and Emma had quite a tumultuous relationship.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that big misunderstanding..." Emma smacked her forehead, "Go to the fountain ahead and wait for me. I left my phone behind!"

Before Fiona could react, Emma pushed her forward and swiftly ran off.

Fiona was taken aback by Emma’s bizzare behavior. Why did she feel like Emma was even more abnormal than three years ago?

Fiona shook her head.

This private hospital truly lived up to its reputation. The stillness of the gardens was extraordinary, even in the middle of winter. Everything was lush and there were flowers in full bloom.

Fiona strolled along, unhurriedly, basking in the sun, relaxed and comfortable.

As Fiona approached the fountain, her gaze landed on a certain spot, and the smile on her face slowly stiffened.

Beside the fountain, a woman sat in a wheelchair, and in front of her, a refined and handsome man squatted down, carefully and gently wrapping a scarf around her.

That man was none other than Darwin, who had told her he would be away on a short business trip.

Darwin was pushing Lilian in the wheelchair. She sunbathed for a while and then thought about taking her back to rest. Straightening the loose scarf, Darwin stood up and turned away, pushing the wheelchair. Just as he turned around, he felt as if he had been struck by lightning.

"Fiona..."he murmured.

"Darwin, what's wrong?" Lilian subconsciously raised her hand and placed it on Darwin's hand, then turned around and asked him.

Fiona had just clearly seen Lilian's face. But when she looked back with an expression of confusion, Fiona instinctively took two steps back.

Lilian! Lilian had returned.

Fiona's ears buzzed, and her face turned pale, terrifyingly so. She looked at Lilian, then back at Darwin.

"So that's how it is... so that's how it is..." she muttered to herself before turning around and walking away in a daze.

"Fiona!" Darwin hurriedly chased after her.

With his long legs, he caught up to Fiona in a few strides. He grabbed Fiona's hand and angrily asked, "Why are you running?"

The next second, Fiona slapped him hard in the face .

"Darwin!" Lilian pushed the wheelchair and caught up, witnessing this scene. She exclaimed and immediately stood up from the wheelchair, clumsily running over.
