Chapter 649 Correction

"If Ethan is willing, of course, it's a good idea. You can ask him then," Fiona whispered.

Chicago nodded, "What about Charlotte? Stuart said Charlotte lives in the same building as Uncle Mike, but Stuart doesn't let me go see her. He says Charlotte is busy with entrance exams."

"Charlotte will also celebrate Christmas with us. When she finishes her exams, you can go and play with her."

Darwin furrowed his brows slightly but remained silent.

Chicago was brimming with excitement.

On the way back, Chicago was as cheerful as a lark, her enthusiasm infectious.

Upon arriving home, Chicago immediately began selecting a room for Ethan.

Chicago chose the brightest guest room, which offered a view of green mountains, forests, and a distant artificial lake. The scenery was breathtaking.

Despite the beautiful view, Chicago wasn't satisfied with the study desk in the room.

So Chicago used her piggy bank savings to buy a study desk and chair that matched her own.

Around the same time, at the billiard hall, they were celebrating Ethan's top score in his grade. The boss was ecstatic, almost as if his son had achieved the top score himself. Some people who didn't know the situation thought that the boss's son had indeed achieved it.

"How did they manage to avoid being at the bottom only to come first in their grade? What's going on in your mind?!"

The crowd was noisy. Ethan moved a small stool and sat by the door. He asked the principal for Chicago's test paper.

Considering Chicago's visible lack of foundation, achieving this score was already impressive.

After Ethan finished looking at the test paper, he exchanged pleasantries with the principle and went home.

When he got home, Ethan printed out all of Chicago's mistakes, carefully writing the solution steps on the back, and explaining the relevant basic knowledge in the process.

By the time all the subjects were done, it was almost dawn.

Ethan went online and ordered a set of textbooks that Chicago would use next semester.

Then, Ethan messaged Fiona, listing the times he would be available for tutoring sessions.

Fiona quickly replied, [Okay, my house is quite remote, so I will arrange for someone to pick you up when the time comes,]

Ethan replied, [Okay.]

Then he turned off his phone and fell into a deep sleep.

It was the first day that Ethan went to Emerald Pool to tutor the children from Chicago, coinciding with Charlotte's entrance exam day.

Fiona had to accompany Charlotte to the exam early in the morning.

Before leaving, she reminded Chicago repeatedly, "You must not be mean to Ethan, and you have to study diligently, understood?"

"I won't be mean to Ethan, I'm not that kind of person!" Chicago said solemnly.

Meanwhile, Charles drank his milkshake.

Charles remembered when he used to teach Chicago, she would get angry at the slightest provocation.

‘She isn't that kind of person?’

Fiona had just left, and Stuart picked up Ethan.

Even though Ethan had known for a long time that Chicago's family was from Old Money, he was still taken aback when he saw their imposing house.

Suddenly Ethan remembered how the principal had been furious and berated him, pounding his chest and pointing at him, when he declined Chicago's mother's adoption proposal. "You spoiled child, you have no idea what you've missed out on!"

In the principal's eyes, what he missed out on must have been these things, right?

"Ethan!" Chicago's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Chicago wasn't wearing her school uniform.

She wore a white down coat and adorable slippers.

Standing on the steps, Chicago smiled brightly, and sunlight fell upon her, making her appear radiant.

Ethan averted his gaze and stepped onto the stairs.

"Your exam paper." Ethan handed Chicago her test paper.

Chicago took the paper and glanced at it, only to see three red crosses marking her mistakes. She couldn't help but feel a little disheartened.

"The topics for today are covered in these papers," Ethan continued, "Where should we study?"

Chicago regained her composure and then led Ethan to the study, where she wanted to have a small chat with him.

But Ethan took out the set of problem sets he had organized the night before and started explaining them earnestly to Chicago.

Initially, Chicago found it dull, but as time went on, she began to get just as engrossed as Ethan.

Halfway through their study session, Charles came over to take a look at their progress.

Seeing Chicago studying earnestly, he left and sent a message to Darwin. [The tutor is good, my sister is studying seriously.]

Darwin was currently in a meeting.

Receiving this message, Darwin felt a little heavy-hearted.

Before, someone on his team started crying inexplicably when talking about her daughter's upcoming wedding.

Darwin felt it was exaggerated at the time.

Now, as a father himself, he suddenly understood the man's feelings more deeply.

Moreover, with Chicago getting married and still so young, with a boy she adored, her father's heart felt like it was bleeding.

Meanwhile, Fiona was busy with work. Charlotte had a long exam to take, so Fiona brought her work computer along. While Charlotte took the exam, Fiona worked in the director's office.

When Charlotte's exam was about to end, Fiona received a call from an unknown number.

Not many people knew her number, so regular harassment calls wouldn't get through.

She answered and said, "Who is this?"

"Chelsea, it's Annie." Annie's gentle voice came from the other side. "I'll be discharged in a couple of days. When should we schedule our last dinner?"

"How about the day you're discharged?" Fiona replied.

"Okay." After exchanging pleasantries, Annie naturally switched to work, "It will be Armie's Christmas in half a month. I want to arrange a trip to the project completion site with Solomon and the team from the energy company before that. What do you think?"

"I guess we can do that, but nearing Christmas, most of the workers on the project will be on vacation. It might be better to go after the New Year." Fiona suggested.

Annie seemed to be contemplating on the other side for a moment.

"Alright, then I'll have the team refine the plan during your Armie's Christmas break."

"Will you stay in Armie for Christmas?" Fiona asked.

"Yes, there is no one for me to celebrate with if I go back, so I might as well stay here." Annie's tone was somewhat bitter. "I heard Armie's Christmas is very lively, and I want to experience it too."

"Armie's Christmas is indeed a lot of fun."

Just as they were talking, Charlotte pushed the door open and entered.

Opening the door, and seeing Fiona on the phone, Charlotte suddenly remembered something.

Charlotte exited, closed the door, knocked, and then opened it again.

Fiona couldn't help but laugh at Charlotte's attempt to make up for forgetting to knock on the door.

Annie heard the noise from the other side and asked, "Are you busy with something?"

"Well, I have some things to do now."

"Then you go ahead, we'll chat when I'm discharged."

The call ended.

Fiona smiled at Charlotte. "How did your exam go?"

"It should be good." Charlotte nodded. "Sorry, I forgot to knock on the door just now."

Charlotte rarely knocked on doors.

Knocking on the door could startle the snake hiding in the grass.

"Remember it next time." Fiona took out a chocolate from her bag. "Here, eat this to replenish your brain power."

Charlotte hesitated for a moment, but she still reached out and took the chocolate. After peeling it open, Charlotte looked at Fiona and took a bite to taste the flavor.

Then, quickly, she finished eating the chocolate.
