Chapter 86 Living in Shame Forever
Geoffery was totally caught off guard for a sec.
"Am I wrong? Everyone in the Solomon Group and the Atlas Group knows about your thing with Mr. Solomon!" he yelled, face turning red.
Fiona just stared at him.
"Chill out, or you'll give yourself a heart attack," she said with a smirk. "What do you mean by 'climbing into bed'?"
Geoffery's face went even redder.
He felt a wave of shame hit him outta nowhere.
"You know exactly what I mean!" Geoffery snapped, not wanting to drag this out. "Mr. Solomon..."
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking," Fiona cut in, her voice firm.
"You..." Geoffery pointed at Fiona, his lips trembling.
He felt like Fiona was just messing with him. With everyone watching, Geoffery slammed the table. "Climbing into bed means you slept your way to the top!"
The room buzzed with whispers.
Darwin's face turned icy.
"Alright then," Fiona said, smiling and waving her phone at Geoffery. "I recorded everything you just said. Expect a call from my lawyer."
"Lawyer?" someone from the Solomon Group piped up. "Ms. Woods, isn't that a bit much?"
"You weren't the one insulted, so you don't get to decide what's too much," Fiona shot back, putting her phone down.
"Mr. Solomon!" Geoffery looked at Darwin, desperate.
"Enough!" Darwin barked. "Since you all heard about what happened yesterday afternoon, you must also know about Eric's praise for Ms. Woods, right?"
The room went dead silent.
Of course, they knew.
Eric had even posted a pic with Fiona on social media, singing her praises.
But everyone knew he was a notorious playboy.
He treated women like trophies.
He'd been snapped going in and out of hotels with eight different supermodels in a single month.
Fiona was kinda hot.
Who knew if Eric had been tempted again?
"You guys are hilarious," Fiona said, breaking the silence with a laugh.
Everyone frowned, glaring at her.
"The new company has a ton of issues to sort out—location, department structure, and all that. It's a mess, and no one cares. But you're all fighting tooth and nail for the president's title," Fiona said, looking around. "Honestly, even if I don't become president, few of you are qualified."
"You!"
"How can you say that?"
"That's too arrogant!"
Everyone started ripping into her.
Fiona acted like she didn't hear them.
But three or four people who hadn't said much looked at her with admiration.
The morning meeting ended in a shouting match.
Darwin took Fiona back to his office.
"Are you mad?" he asked.
Fiona, her fingers flying over her phone, replied coldly, "No."
Darwin leaned in.
He saw that Fiona was chatting with a lawyer.
Looked like she wasn't kidding about the lawsuit.
Two days later, while Fiona was organizing meeting materials in her office, an unknown number called.
She glanced at it and hung up.
The number called twice more, but Fiona ignored it.
A few minutes later, Henry knocked on Fiona's office door. "Ms. Woods, Mr. Gibson from the Solomon Group is looking for you."
Fiona looked up to see Henry holding his phone with a pained expression. "Tell him to call me directly."
"Got it!" Henry shut the door and left.
Moments later, Fiona's phone rang again.
Same unknown number.
Fiona picked up.
As soon as the call connected, Geoffery's angry voice blasted through. "Fiona! The lawyer's letter you sent arrived at my house! What the hell is this?"
Fiona frowned and hung up.
Geoffery called back almost immediately.
Fiona let it ring for a bit before answering, taking her sweet time.
"Ms. Woods, don't be so harsh!" Geoffery said through gritted teeth.
Fiona smiled softly. "I told you about the lawsuit right then and there. Actions have consequences. How am I being harsh?"
She could practically hear Geoffery grinding his teeth. "We both work for the Solomon family. There's no need to take it this far. You... you should drop the lawsuit!"
Fiona leaned back in her chair. "Are you ordering me?"
Geoffery felt the pressure even through the phone. "No, I'm asking you!"
Fiona added, "Mr. Gibson, as far as I know, you're a repeat offender. There was a female analyst at the Solomon Group before, beautiful and capable. She had stellar quarterly reviews and was about to be promoted to director. You couldn't stand a strong woman, so you spread rumors about her sleeping with her superiors. She ended up with severe depression from the gossip, attempted suicide several times, and almost went to jail for attacking you."
"If she wanted to die over some rumors, that just shows she was weak!" Geoffery stubbornly insisted.
"Is that so?" Fiona smiled. "Then let's see how you handle being the subject of some rumors. I can't wait to see your incredible strength!"
"What do you mean?" Geoffery shouted.
Before he could get an answer, Fiona hung up.
When he tried calling back, he found he had been blocked.
He was so furious he smashed his phone.
It wasn't long before rumors about Geoffery coercing new employees into sleeping with him spread throughout the Solomon Group.
Some of the victims even came forward with long-hidden evidence and reported him to the police.
The media eagerly reported the scandal involving a high-ranking Solomon Group executive.
Geoffery's wife, humiliated, filed for divorce.
Under immense pressure, news broke that Geoffery had attempted suicide in jail.
That afternoon, Fiona was lazily basking in the sun in her office.
In her earphones, Burl was updating her on Geoffery's failed suicide attempt.
He had been arrested so quickly thanks to the Solomon Group employees' reports and Burl's efforts.
Burl had hacked into Geoffery's phone and computer.
He found a trove of selfies and videos Geoffery had taken.
There were many victims.
Burl sent an anonymous email with the evidence to the investigating officer.
"I hope that shamelss jerk didn't die this easy. He should live in shame for the rest of his life!" Burl grumbled, "Fiona, Grandpa and I are going to the harbor to buy some seafood later. I'll send you some!"
"Okay..." Fiona was about to respond when Henry burst in.
"Ms. Woods, Ms. Garcia is here!" he whispered, "And she looks pissed!"
