Chapter 916

Charlotte and Christopher were back.

"I was just about to call you. Where have you been?" Mike asked as he saw them coming in. "You missed quite a show!"

"Got lost!" Christopher looked embarrassed.

"Dad, you're the one running around!" Charlotte said helplessly, "Mike, what happened?"

Mike had given up letting Charlotte call him politely now.

He probably explained the situation.

Charlotte immediately frowned and said, "Dad, I'm not going for a morning run with you anymore."

"Don't. Can I not run up the mountain starting tomorrow?" Christopher pleaded pitifully.

"Protecting Chicago and Charles is my duty. Chicago was almost in danger today!" Charlotte paused for a moment. "And I should also protect the baby in Thalassa's belly!"

Charlotte's logic was simple.

Adults protected adults. Children protected children.

Leaving that statement, Charlotte went straight to find Chicago and Charles, leaving Christopher looking embarrassed.

"Christopher, why were you running up the mountain?" Mike was curious.

"I heard you can pick mushrooms on the mountain." Christopher touched his nose. "Who knew the mountains here are so strange? I got lost after a while."

Mike was speechless.

A ruthless killer got lost while picking mushrooms.

It sounded like a hell-level joke.

Mike asked, "Did you pick any mushrooms?"

Christopher was even more speechless. He said, "I did. I just came back and met the chef. The chef said only two were edible; the rest were poisonous mushrooms!"

Mike fell silent.

"Don't look at me like that. I avoided the colorful ones!" Christopher's common sense told him that the more colorful the mushroom, the more poisonous it was. Who knew that white mushrooms could be poisonous too?

Mike chuckled without saying a word.

Christopher felt looked down upon.

Christopher immediately said, "How about you come with me to the mountain and see if you recognize the poisonous mushrooms tomorrow?"

"Sure!" Mike replied, "I've been working with Stuart for so long, I don't even know which mushrooms are edible and which aren't?"

The two of them inexplicably agreed to go mushroom picking.

Charlotte quickly found Chicago and Charles.

"Charlotte, where did you go?" Chicago asked in surprise.

Charlotte looked more disheveled than when she left, with twigs in her hair.

Charlotte scratched herself, saying, "I got lost during my morning run. Are you okay?"

Chicago shook her head, "I'm fine."

"That's good." Charlotte nodded.

Fiona leaned against the window, looking at the room where the children were gathered.

"Darwin, do you think there's a special connection between children?" Fiona turned to look at Darwin. "Your daughter just said she felt her sister missed her, so she ran out to find her in a hurry."

"When she ran out of the room, she did say that," Darwin said, gently hugging Fiona from behind.

Fiona also remembered the time she was on the brink of death, seeing two small balls of light pulling her back from the brink of death.

With such an experience, Chicago's actions today seemed quite reasonable.

Fiona said, "It seems that the baby in Thalassa's belly has a deep connection with our Chicago."

As she was saying this, her phone rang.

She glanced at the caller ID, the gentleness on her face disappearing completely, and she heard. "Ms. Woods, I've gathered what you wanted. Should I send it to your email?"

Fiona said, "There's no need. Find someone who has a grudge against David and give it to them."
