Chapter 1477
Fiona had originally planned to throw a big bash for Janna's 90th birthday.
But ever since Janna reconnected with Fiona, she had grown tired of social obligations.
So, naturally, she didn't let Fiona go all out this time either.
All Janna wanted was for all the kids to come back and have a family meal together.
But despite Janna's wishes, over the years, many people she had helped wanted to come and celebrate.
Half a month ago, Fiona received over forty invitations from all around the world.
So, on Janna's 90th birthday, there were still over a hundred guests.
After discussing with Janna, Fiona decided the family would have lunch together at Emerald Pool.
Dinner would be held at a nearby banquet hall.
Otherwise, the house chef would be overwhelmed.
As lunchtime approached, Kenny arrived with Thalassa.
Almost the entire Walker family came along too.
The last to arrive were Burl's wife and kids.
"Great-grandma, the kids insisted on making you a birthday cake themselves. They burned two batches, so we're a bit late," said the beautiful woman, carrying the cake to Janna with an apologetic smile.
"We haven't started eating yet, so you're not late," Janna said lovingly, pulling out three gifts and handing them to Burl's three kids.
The twin sisters, who looked just like their mom when they were born, had grown to look exactly like their dad.
Janna always marveled at this, saying, "Good thing Burl is handsome, or I'd be worried."
With everyone present, lunch officially began.
Chicago and Melissa had changed into pretty dresses, and Charlotte had also changed into something elegant, though her arms remained hidden under her sleeves.
She sat at the farthest end from Janna.
Chicago and Charles sat on either side of Janna.
Melissa kept everyone at the table laughing.
Even the usually stern Charles had a hint of a smile on his face.
He ate quietly and methodically, listening to Melissa say, "Charlotte is amazing. I have to show you all the documentary later. You should hear her speak foreign languages like a native!"
Everyone knew Melissa loved to praise Charlotte.
Scarlet had retired from the company in the past two years, and both sons had gotten married and had kids.
Scarlet now spent her days happily with her great-grandchildren.
The only regret was that they had only boys so far.
But no worries, they were still young and would surely have a daughter someday!
Thinking this, Janna looked lovingly at Melissa.
Her granddaughter was just perfect, beautiful, and adorable!
She decided she needed to give her some money for a shopping spree with her sisters!
Hearing Melissa mention Charlotte, Scarlet seemed to remember something. "Charlotte, you'll be thirty by New Year's, right?"
Charlotte looked up at Scarlet and nodded gently. "Yes."
"Are you seeing anyone?" Scarlet asked again.
"Grandma, my Charlotte is waiting for me to grow up!" Melissa quickly interjected.
"Nonsense!" Scarlet scolded Melissa. "Do you remember that Gabriel you met before?"
"How could I forget Gabriel? He's so handsome! I heard he's a famous hockey player now?" Melissa replied.
"Yes, and when they came back for New Year's, they asked about Charlotte," Scarlet said cheerfully. "They saw her on Chicago's Twitter and wanted to know more."
"Grandma, I'm getting married soon," Charlotte said calmly.
The table fell silent.
"Getting married?!" Melissa exclaimed in shock.
Charlotte hadn't mentioned this in the room earlier.
"I was going to tell you all tomorrow, but today is Grandma Rhoads' birthday, so it's the most important," Charlotte said, still speaking slowly and deliberately.
