Chapter 986

"Strange?" Fiona said.

"Yes, although I didn't have much interaction with him before, and the words we exchanged were pitifully few, how should I put it..." Thalassa pondered for a moment. "Perhaps because of his amnesia, sometimes when I see him talking to others, I feel like he's just someone who looks similar to Darwin but isn't Darwin."

Though the words were different, it was the same thing Janna had said.

"Fiona." Thalassa waved a hand gently in front of Fiona and said, "What's wrong?"

Fiona snapped out of her thoughts. "Grandma said something similar last night. It's so strange; to me, he seems to have become even better."

Thalassa spoke without much thought, the words spilling out."It sounds like after his amnesia, he's subconsciously changing into the person you want him to be, right?"

Thalassa's words made Fiona astonished.

Then Thalassa added, "But what does it matter how others see him? As long as he's what you want! Anyway, I prefer the current Darwin. He is gentle and polite. Unlike before, sometimes I was scared just looking at him!"

Fiona smiled. "Scared? But later, you often argued."

Though they spoke little, they could irritate each other within three sentences.

"That's because after you made up, I had you as my backbone. I dared to confront anyone." Thalassa snorted, looking confident.

Fiona was amused by her.

Then Thalassa said, "I do want you to stay with me, but I can't hold you back from your matters, so it's okay. Do what you need to do."

Fiona nodded.

Finally, it was decided that she would leave North Alabama for the Bay City in a week.

The adults had work to do, and the children needed to adapt and prepare for the upcoming school term.

Meanwhile, Stella and Alexander arrived at the church two and a half hours later. Just like last time, they first went to Grandma Smith's shop to buy fruits and flowers, then climbed the long steps to the church entrance.

"Stella!" In the summer heat, Mason was squatting at the entrance, watching ants. Hearing footsteps, he looked up and, seeing Stella, ran over joyfully.

He said, "Why are you here so soon? I thought you'd wait until the weather cools down!"

"I felt like someone here missed me, so I came," Stella said with a smile.

Mason's expression turned a bit awkward.

Clearing his throat, he said, "Father Alexander, please wait a moment. I'll go get Liam!"

With that, Mason ran off.

After a few steps, he ran back, blushing, and asked Stella, "How long are you staying? The beds in the monastery are quite tight lately."

"Three to five days, maybe?" Stella replied.

Mason's face lit up with joy.

"Alright then!" He looked at Alexander. "Father Alexander, after you left last time, Father Ben had me sun your books. You can take them when you leave!"
