Chapter 11
Her eyes were filled with tears. Her body trembled. Darwin watched, feeling like his heart was being cut with a knife.
Except for the very beginning, she had never resisted or been afraid of his intimate touch like this before. She had always been so accommodating to him.
The more Darwin scrutinized Fiona, the more estranged he felt. It was as if the affectionate moments they had shared in the past five years were all his imagination. He couldn't understand what was going on.
Darwin's anger intensified. He pinched Fiona's chin and let out a short, cold laugh. "Fiona, you haven't been like these for the past few days. Do you think acting weak and vulnerable now will work?"
A ripping sound filled the air as her evening gown was torn.
"Alright, enough nonsense." Her white legs were exposed to the air.
"Darwin!" Fiona screamed, curling her legs up, attempting to push Darwin away with her knee.
However, her kick was nothing to him. Her legs were suppressed once again. Then, Darwin cupped her cheek and refused to let her evade, kissing her again.
Fiona bit him, and the taste of blood spread between their lips. Darwin showed no sign of stopping anytime soon. In Fiona's line of sight, she could still see Bella standing there stiffly, eyes full of disbelief and resentment.
A huge sense of humiliation enveloped her completely. She had always thought she understood Darwin well enough. But at this moment, she realized she knew nothing about Darwin's rascal nature. If anger could kill, she would have died millions of times over.
Tears kept streaming down from the corner of her eyes. Just as Fiona felt despair creeping in, Darwin suddenly stopped his actions. He stopped kissing her.
His eyes were sinister as he looked up, as if a storm capable of destroying everything was brewing deep inside.
His palm against Fiona's cheek was moist. Fiona looked at him. Her lips were stained with his blood, her shoulders trembling slightly, and the tip of her nose turning red. She was crying.
It was different from the kind of crying she did when he treated her harshly in the past.
This was genuine. It was a cry full of sadness and despair. Darwin's soul seemed to have been struck hard by something.
All his anger, rage, jealousy, and unwillingness slowly dissolved from his out-of-control emotions. After a long while, he stood up from the sofa.
"Get out. Get the hell out of here!"
Fiona snapped out of her thoughts, quickly getting up.
She hurriedly left 1899 as if her life depended on it, stumbling along the way. Since Darwin was so capricious, she had been cautious and closed the door behind her as she left. In her rush, she closed the door with a little too much force, making a loud bang.
Inside the room, Bella's face had lost all color. The usually elegant and composed Darwin, at this moment, had his shirt in disarray, revealing a large part of his chest. Bella was annoyed that Darwin almost forcibly took another woman in front of her.
However, this would be a rare opportunity for her since he hadn't gotten what he wanted.
"Mr. Darwin, it's Fiona's fault for not knowing better. Don't be angry anymore..." Bella slowly leaned closer, her tender hand reaching toward Darwin's chest.
"You're great. Even if others don't treasure you, I do. I will give you whatever you want that is within my capabilities."
Just as she was about to touch Darwin's chest, Darwin sidestepped, avoiding her outreached hand and walked straight to the bathroom.
"I'm not in the mood. Go back to your own room."
Bella froze in place upon seeing the situation.
She didn't understand the meaning of this.
They were both women, and she believed she was prettier and had a better figure than Fiona. It was impossible that Darwin wasn't interested.
Bella immediately took a quick step forward. Regardless of whether it would anger Darwin, she directly hugged him from behind.
"Mr. Darwin, I can do better than her."
Bella didn't finish her words. Suddenly, she was pushed away by Darwin with great force. With such strength, she fell directly onto the sofa.
"What are you doing?" Darwin scolded angrily.
The expression on his face was full of disgust, as if the person who had just been close to him was not a beautiful woman, but some rotten trash.
"Mr. Darwin, I just wanted to help you and not make you feel uncomfortable…"
Darwin had always been cold and distant toward Bella. Even his occasional tenderness and care seemed perfunctory. This was the first time he had gotten angry with her. Bella didn't expect it to be so terrifying, causing her to tremble.
"You don't deserve it. Get out!"
Darwin coldly threw down this sentence and went straight to the bathroom.
Bella sat there dejectedly.
A pearl earring lay on the floor nearby.
It belonged to Fiona.
She picked it up and fiercely threw it aside.
If she hadn't acted desperately, Darwin would have chosen her from the very beginning.
Fiona ran all the way to the vicinity of the elevator. After confirming that Darwin wouldn't chase her, her legs grew weak. With no one around, she leaned against the wall and slowly sat down on the ground.
Just at that moment, the elevator opened with a ding. Fiona instinctively looked up, frowning.
The person standing in the elevator was briefly stunned upon seeing her. Her curly hair was disheveled, her beautiful eyes were teary, slightly swollen lips.
Wyatt was dumbfounded. Then, he caught sight of Fiona's skirt, torn above her knees. He furrowed his brows and hurriedly stepped out, taking off his own coat and covering her legs with it.
"Ms. Fiona, who bullied you?"
Fiona was struggling to regain her composure. She pushed aside Wyatt's coat, picked up her torn skirt, reluctantly covering her legs as she stood up.
"Darwin," she answered, side-eyeing Wyatt with coldness. "Mr. Wyatt, will you be the one to help me? Are you going to seek justice for me?"
Wyatt's eyes widened as he asked, “Darwin?”
With a cold expression, Fiona didn't say anything more. She stepped into the elevator before the doors closed.
Wyatt was stunned for a moment.
He couldn't believe Darwin forced himself on Fiona. No one could.
Darwin was a prideful man. It was hard to believe that he would use a substitute like Fiona.
When Lilian abandoned him and left, he would rather find a substitute than chase after her and forcefully bring her back.
He didn't even say a word to persuade her to stay. Yet, he forced his ways with Fiona.
With this thought in mind, Wyatt quickly headed toward Darwin's room.
He wanted to confront Darwin about this.
Just halfway there, they ran into a bewildered Bella.
"Ms. Bella, what happened just now?" Wyatt hurriedly asked.
Bella looked at Wyatt, her eyes reddened with distress.
Looking at her, Wyatt, in a strange impulse, thought of that moment Fiona looked up at him and Darwin.
"Mr. Wyatt, Fiona was not satisfied with what she had and even desired more. She came to seduce Mr. Darwin in the middle of the night, which made him furious. Then, I got scolded too."
Wyatt was speechless. It meant that Fiona really just came out from Darwin's room.
