Chapter 1127

"It's not like that," Antony muttered.

Sophia made a "boom" gesture at the camera, laughed, and hummed a tune as she walked out of the frame.

Just as the nurse came in for rounds, she heard Sophia singing. "Antony and Ariel are taking you out for some fresh air today. Feeling good?" she asked.

"Yeah, really great," Sophia nodded.

The video cut off there.

"I've sent the surveillance footage up to when she came to see you. Check your email. You might want to watch it before you end up in jail," Darwin said, looking at Antony. "I admit there were some really bad behaviors before the amnesia, but the White family tragedy was all because of your choices."

Antony sat there in silence.

Scenes from that day kept flashing in his mind.

When he picked up Sophia, she seemed more obedient than ever.

During lunch, she even fed his child.

After lunch, she asked him again, "Antony, I've been really good. The doctor said Darwin hasn't kept me locked up for long. Can you go to the hospital and sign me out? I won't stay in Armie. I'll leave the country and never come back. I promise I won't cause any trouble for you or the family. I really don't want to stay here anymore. I'm scared every day!"

Antony couldn't remember what he was thinking at the time, probably weighing the pros and cons.

Then he said, "Hold on for another two months. I'll find a way to get you out."

At that moment, the light in Sophia's eyes went out.

Antony didn't think much of it, assuming her previous obedience was an act, and now that she was rejected, her true colors showed.

After watching the surveillance footage and recalling that scene, Antony felt like he was going crazy.

"I gave money to the hospital, isolated her room from other patients, and bought her lots of books and toys," he said, his hands trembling.

"Just keep telling yourself that," Darwin replied. "I found out about the amounts you altered on those contracts a long time ago. They've all been corrected."

Antony's back stiffened.

He looked at Darwin, laughing bitterly. "So you started suspecting me that early, huh?"

Ever since Darwin began taking over the Solomons, Antony had altered some data on certain contracts.

Although the amounts were small, the accumulated annual losses would be huge once the contracts were signed.

"I was just being thorough," Darwin said.

He had accidentally discovered a discrepancy.

After that, he rechecked the contract amounts before signing.

At the time, he suspected there was a problem in the legal department, but never suspected Antony.

"Darwin," Antony said, smiling.

Darwin looked at him calmly.

"You'll suffer too," Antony continued. "You know better than anyone, if you hadn't used the child and Fiona's family as threats, she wouldn't have come back to you forever."

This wasn't the first time someone had said something like this to Darwin.
