Chapter 1438

The two of them walked side by side towards the parking lot.

On the way, Fiona had someone look into the business situation of the ice cream factory.

The reasons for the old factory's closure were pretty much the same as others: external capital had hit too hard, squeezing the local market.

Their marketing couldn't compete with the big players either.

On top of that, the ice cream factory had internal family issues. There had been a family feud going on for over a decade, with only one elderly person struggling to keep it afloat.

Earlier this year, the final lawsuit over the family split was settled, and the factory couldn't keep going any longer.

Back at Sesame Alley.

Fiona made a call to Laura.

As luck would have it, Laura was in a neighboring city for a meeting, and just yesterday, there were entrepreneurs from Serene City sharing the rise and fall of that ice cream factory.

"I heard that when the factory was divided up, no one wanted the ice cream recipes. They thought any factory nowadays knew how to make ice cream, and theirs wasn't as good as the current brands, so it had no advantage. But the factory manager's grandson, a college junior, gave up over thirty thousand dollars in inheritance to choose every ice cream recipe from the factory."

"Interesting," Fiona curled up on the couch. "Try to get in touch with him. If he's willing to restart the factory, Monsoon Investment can provide angel investment. If he's not up for it, then see if we can buy the recipes and the brand name. Monsoon Investment can take it from there."

"Got it," Laura responded immediately. "But this factory is a pretty small project. Chelsea, why are you suddenly interested in it?"

"This brand has a special place in my heart. I grew up with it, and I don't want to see it disappear."

"In that case, leave it to me!" Laura perked up.

"Thank you."

After a few more pleasantries, Fiona hung up the phone.

Darwin came in from outside with a glass of water for Fiona.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Are you done with work?"

Fiona touched his cheek. "I've handed it over to Laura."

"That's good," Darwin nodded. "I asked around, and the people behind this factory are quite complicated. Doing it under the Solomon Group or the Rhoads Group might cause trouble."

"Exactly."

Fiona closed her laptop and comfortably lay down on the bed.

Darwin lay down beside her.

"We're heading home tomorrow," Fiona said, looking at Darwin.

Darwin pulled her closer, nuzzling her neck. "We need to make time for just the two of us more often."

Fiona knew.

In the short term, it would be difficult.

The Solomon Group had endless matters to attend to, and once Darwin took over, she would have to start handling the Rhoads Group's affairs.

Both sides were busy.

It would be hard to find such long stretches of time for just the two of them again.

"We'll try our best," Fiona gently patted Darwin's back. "Darwin, we need to agree on a few things before we go home."

Darwin had a good idea of what Fiona wanted to say.

He nodded obediently.

"It's best if your condition doesn't relapse, but if you notice any signs, you can't keep it to yourself out of fear. You must tell me right away, and we'll face it together," Fiona said seriously. "If you beat it once, you can beat it countless times. There's nothing to be afraid of."

"Okay," Darwin held Fiona tighter.

"No more unreasonable or inexplicable stubbornness," Fiona added. "If you're upset or dissatisfied, we can talk about it."

"I've changed," Darwin mumbled.

"Lastly, I want our children, Charles and Chicago, to always be free. Who their parents are shouldn't be a burden on their future choices," Fiona said more earnestly. "This includes, but is not limited to, who they befriend, what they choose to study, and what kind of adults they become. We can offer advice when they need it, but we can't interfere forcefully in any way."

Fiona paused.

"Like with Ethan."
