Chapter 1303
Rose frowned, feeling uneasy. "Just a new secretary, and you can't even use my full name?"
"Ms. Everhart, the workday is over. Now it's Ms. Woods' personal time. There's a flight at 4:30 p.m. You can explore the capital city," Henry said gently, trying to be friendly.
Rose's face soured even more. "Personal time? You and Christopher can stay with Ms. Woods, but I can't?"
"Christopher is Ms. Woods' bodyguard. And I'm Mr. Durham's friend, just hanging out," Henry explained, his career as a special assistant in the CEO's office making him unflappable, always smiling even when insulted.
In the end, Rose left work early.
The Durham group's headquarters was in the CBD of the capital city, close to the mall. But Rose wasn't in the mood for shopping. Feeling ignored and not taken seriously was really getting to her.
Meanwhile, Fiona was dealing with her own issues.
In the car, Wyatt was curious. "Why'd you hire a new secretary? She doesn't seem to match up to your previous assistant."
"Laura is now the president of Monsoon Investment," Fiona replied.
"So you just randomly picked an assistant?" Wyatt didn't think Fiona was that kind of person.
"We'll talk about it later," Fiona said, wanting to discuss other matters with Wyatt. The car wasn't the right place for that conversation.
"Alright." Wyatt nodded, tapping his fingers restlessly on his knee. After a while, he finally asked, "How's Milo doing?"
"Very well. Alexander and Stella take Milo everywhere. He's become quite bold and even bosses around the cats and dogs at home," Fiona replied.
Wyatt laughed. "When I got Milo, he was the most unique kitten. He climbed to the highest spot and looked down on everyone!"
Fiona smiled but didn't respond.
After laughing, Wyatt grew more agitated. "You know who I want to ask about, but you won't give me the chance. You weren't this clumsy back then!" he snorted.
"If you want to know, just ask me directly," Fiona said.
"Is she getting along well with Alexander? He seems shrewd, and Stella is very naive. I'm worried she might be taken advantage of," Wyatt added.
"Alexander is shrewd, but he hasn't used it against Stella. He's given her his true heart," Fiona said, looking at Wyatt. "Wyatt, we both know Stella isn't indispensable to you. How many girlfriends have you had over the years?"
Wyatt felt the sting of her words.
"If Darwin were like you, I would've killed him when he pestered me," Fiona continued.
Wyatt became sullen, rubbing his face. "I know it's impossible now. Give me more time, okay? Ironically, when I got home, my mom asked about Stella."
Fiona was surprised.
"She thought Stella and I were getting married and was planning the wedding. She even took out a pair of heirloom bracelets worth thousands of dollars each, which she never let me touch before," Wyatt said, leaning back.
"You and your mom are exactly the same," Fiona said. Only when they lost something did they understand its value.
"Only you can say that to me," Wyatt laughed self-deprecatingly. "Everyone else would comfort me by saying 'there will be someone better,' but secretly curse me behind my back."
"Usually, I just scold you to your face," Fiona said.
Wyatt laughed. "Forget it. From now on, the Durham group will be my lover."
Fiona said nothing.
