Chapter 1325
In no time at all, Christopher and Charlotte had been sticking close to Fiona for almost a year.
Even though Fiona never said it out loud, she was still worried about what the future held for Charlotte. The kid was super smart, picked up things fast, and was just all-around amazing.
Fiona really wanted Charlotte to grow up without any limits.
Whatever Charlotte wanted to learn in the future, Fiona was ready to send her to the best schools and get her the best teachers.
But if Simon's mess didn't get sorted out, and the Elysium royal family kept hunting Charlotte, no matter how many times Fiona changed her identity, danger would always be lurking.
Now, Simon's brother and mom had brought this mess on themselves, which kind of solved the crisis.
Honestly, whether they were still alive was a big question. Even if the queen let them live, their lives would be super tough from now on.
Plus, Christopher was right earlier; they wouldn't have tried to kill the queen for no reason.
They were looking for a new future and better prospects for themselves.
Even if the queen spared them, the heir they were backing wouldn't let them live.
"My life being in your hands doesn't matter to me. But for Charlotte, it's a big deal. Hearing this news, I finally feel relieved!" Christopher's voice cracked. "During the summer vacation, all the kids in Charlotte's class went to summer camps abroad. When the teacher called me, I felt really bad. Even though you made arrangements, thinking that Charlotte couldn't leave Armie, and this time she spent the summer with you in North Alabama, what about next time? What about every year after that?"
When Christopher was in dangerous situations before, he never had these thoughts.
He used to think that just being able to provide for and raise Charlotte was good enough.
After Fiona took them in, Christopher experienced a normal life for the first time.
Whenever he had time, he would take Charlotte to school, just like any other regular parent.
He even went to Charlotte's school sports day.
Even though he felt awkward, he was super happy inside.
Every teacher praised Charlotte, saying she not only excelled academically but was also in great physical shape.
This year, Christopher truly lived like a human being.
Not as an assassin, not as someone's weapon.
He was Charlotte's dad.
In this stable life, Christopher also became greedy.
Not for himself, but for Charlotte.
After all, Charlotte killed Simon for him.
He felt guilty.
"From now on, things will only get better each year," Fiona said softly.
Christopher nodded vigorously.
He raised his hand and wiped the tears from his eyes with his sleeve.
Because of Fiona's meticulous care for Charlotte, Christopher became as loyal a subordinate as Mike, Stuart, and the others who had been raised by Janna since childhood.
In the face of danger, as long as Fiona gave the order, he would go without hesitation, no matter the cost.
The car arrived outside the cemetery.
The sky was heavy with thick clouds, and the cemetery was wrapped in dense fog.
Everything was damp, and the cold seemed to seep into the bones.
Christopher got out of the car to hold an umbrella for Fiona.
Fiona didn't say anything.
Today wasn't a day for any rituals, so there were few people in the cemetery, but there were still some scattered folks bringing flowers to pay their respects.
Fiona didn't bring anything.
She easily found Brooke's tombstone.
Christopher handed the umbrella to Fiona.
Then he ran to the nearby corridor to take shelter from the rain.
Fiona stood in front of the tombstone, looking at Brooke's loving smile on the stone.
"Grandma, Darwin is sick," Fiona said.
