Chapter 154 Competing with Solomon?

His protective instincts surfaced, and he glanced at Fiona, who said softly, "Go ahead."

"Hmm, Chicago, please make another one for mommy!" The young girl blinked away her tears and smiled sweetly.

Ashton, watching from the side, whispered to Fiona, "Do you have to be so strict when I'm here? Look how scared she is!"

Fiona didn't want to be harsh, but she knew the importance of teaching her daughter values at this impressionable age.

"You're spoiling her," Fiona said, pinching Ashton's leg under the table.

Ashton playfully collapsed onto Fiona, joking, "Uh oh, my legs are disabled. Miss Chelsea, you have to take care of me when I'm old!"

"Take care, take care!" Fiona allowed Ashton to lean on her, watching the siblings interact.

Charles, usually uninterested in such activities, joined in to comfort his nearly tearful sister. Their whispers didn't escape Fiona's notice, though it was mostly Chicago doing the talking.

Eventually, Charles advised, "Sister, not all good-looking people are good. Don't follow someone just because they're attractive. If you get lost, you won't find mommy."

Chicago took her brother's words to heart, vowing to consider them carefully.

Ashton laughed, "Your daughter has always been drawn to beauty, and it's only getting stronger."

Fiona had noticed too. Chicago's fascination with beauty often led her to desire beautiful things, like a peacock she once saw on TV.

Fiona wouldn't indulge her, but somehow, after a business trip, Fiona returned to find peacocks on the lawn. When the peacocks molted, Chicago's distress led Janna to have them removed.

"Is Chris really that handsome?" Fiona asked Ashton.

"I haven't seen him," Ashton lied, "But anyone she calls Chris must be quite old, right? What's so good about old men!"

Ashton pulled at Chicago's braid. "Chicago, give godmother one!" Chicago handed her a poorly wrapped duck. Ashton thought, well, it's better than nothing.

After dinner, Ashton took the children for a walk, while Fiona attended a meeting about her investment project. "How did Solomon get involved?" Fiona wondered after her assistant's report. "It's led by Solomon's assistant. I've seen her projects, they're impressive, but not as much as yours. We've evaluated everything, and Solomon won't beat us." The competition meant a risk of encountering them.

"Assistant General? Lilian, right?"

"Yes! That's her!"

"Do you know her?" the assistant asked.

"I don't," Fiona denied, having only met her once.

"Don't worry about Solomon. Rest and vacation, then fly to Armie Country to focus on the project."

"Yes!" The assistant responded.

Fiona ended the call and reviewed the overview of Lilian's projects her assistant had sent. Lilian's team was strong in negotiation but relied heavily on personal connections—a weakness in Armie Country.

After working, Fiona greeted Charles and Chicago, who returned from playing. Chicago was a mess, while Charles was cleaner. "Is your daughter Peter Pan? She's about to fly!" Ashton joked, exhausted.

Fiona smiled, "She's been playing with Burl, so she's gotten stronger." Fiona wiped Chicago's sweaty face and sent her to Wendy for a bath.

"Mommy, the park nearby is so fun. There are dogs, big and small!" Chicago said, describing the dogs she had met.

Chicago didn't know who told her about her brother's allergies, so she never asked for a pet dog. But seeing so many dogs and even cats in the park made her ecstatic.
