Chapter 275 The Hitman Found!
Passing by the restroom, she casually wet her hands and exited as if nothing happened—to leave no trace.
Anniston had shut down the mansion's entire surveillance system to avoid capturing Lilian on camera.
Thus, Lilian carried out her task with confidence.
The car designated to drop Lilian off did so in a secluded spot, where she parked a rented vehicle.
While sitting in the car leisurely, she peeled off a thin film from her right hand—a layer designed to obscure fingerprints.
"Anniston..." Lilian's eyelids drooped with a sinister smile.
“If you don't see me as a person, then descend into hell!”

The next day.
Fiona had been on video conferences all morning.
As soon as they wrapped up, Darwin’s lead physician, Dr. Johnson, sought her out.
"Dr. Johnson, is there an issue with Darwin?" Fiona asked hesitantly.
Dr. Johnson hurried to reassure her. "Mr. Solomon's test results are quite good overall. Just a few concerns—nothing major, but its worth mentioning to family."
"Please, go ahead."
Dr. Johnson took an X-ray from his assistant.
"This is Mr. Solomon's brain CT scan."
At the mention of the brain, Fiona's heart leaped to her throat.
"As of now, there's still a small amount of bruising that hasn't dispersed," Dr. Johnson pointed out a specific area on the scan.
"Right," Fiona nodded seriously.
"Our assessment is that as long as the patient maintains emotional stability, there shouldn't be a major problem. But he must avoid stress and overexertion," Dr. Johnson said gravely. "We can't do this alone; we need the family's cooperation. I heard he started working as soon as he woke up yesterday? That's quite risky."
Exactly for this reason, Dr. Johnson had sought her out.
"I understand," Fiona replied promptly. "There won't be a repeat incident before the bruising clears."
"Thank you for your concern."
After Dr. Johnson left, silence enveloped the room, and Fiona's heartbeat roared in her ears. You’d be terrified to know how many tragic plot twists ran through her mind when the doctor pulled out that CT scan.
"Sis!"
As Fiona turned to head back to the room, she heard Burl's voice.
She wheeled around to see Burl jogging toward her, clad in one of his countless black tracksuit ensembles, his hair long enough to obscure his eyes, and swinging his backpack.
Fiona felt a tinge of melancholy.
He was such a homebody; his good looks were hidden beneath that unruly hair – how would he ever find a spouse like that?
"I thought you weren't going to come see me," Fiona teased as Burl caught up, playfully brushing his hair aside to reveal his eyes. "Burl, do me a favor; get a haircut as soon as you leave, will you? Don't let Charles adopt your sense of style!"
"We found who hired the hitman!" Burl exclaimed excitedly.
Fiona's face changed in an instant: "Who?"
"Well, the transaction was done anonymously, so we don't know exactly who it is. But we've pinpointed the location of the cell signal used for communication!"
Originally, Charles had found the cellphone two days earlier, but it was always turned off, making it impossible to trace. Burl figured it had likely been disposed of after the communication.
Together with Charles, he started to investigate the anonymous account used for the payment. Frustratingly, after cracking the account, they found that the owner didn't exist; the account had been canceled days earlier.
The other party was well-prepared, leaving no trace behind.
As Charles vacillated between frustration and anger, with no leads, the signal of that previously discovered cellphone reactivated.
The timing was impeccable.
The signal location, consistent with its last appearance, was pinpointed to Bay City.
"Where's the location?" Fiona asked.
Burl pulled out his smartphone and showed Fiona the results of the coordinate analysis.
Fiona's complexion shifted drastically at a glance.
"You recognize this place, sis? Someone you know?" Burl pressed anxiously, noticing her change in demeanor.
"A friend's mom lives there," Fiona clenched her fists.
She then remembered the doctor's recent advice.
"Burl, you and Charles did great, but we need to keep this under wraps for now. Don't even tell Janna yet," Fiona instructed. "I want to wait until Darwin's fully recovered before we drag this scumbag into the light and crush her!"
"Why wait for Darwin to get better?" Burl muttered, his excitement quickly fading.
Fiona was fixated on the coordinates.
"This person nearly killed him twice; he deserves to exact his own revenge!" She said resolutely.
Burl just gaped at her in astonishment, looking as if he had swallowed a whole watermelon.
Without further explanation, Fiona fiddled with her phone.
Burl's phone pinged—a hefty sum of money was transferred to his account.
"This much?" Burl's eyes gleamed.
At first, Burl felt awkward accepting money from his sister and would try to refuse several times.
Once, amidst his objections, she lost her temper.
"Fine, if you want to be like that with me, then don't bother calling me 'sister' anymore!"
And so, Burl progressed from being uncomfortable to his eyes lighting up with glee whenever he received spending money from Fiona.
"Half of this is for Charles. I haven't been able to spend time with him and Chicago lately. Take the trouble to take them to Disneyland, buy whatever toys and figurines they want—my treat!" Fiona said generously.
"No problem!" Burl replied with enthusiasm.
Everyone knew Charles loved his fuzzy toys, but his room had become so cluttered that Fiona had to ban him from buying more.
"And keep an extra eye on Grandma; she’s been worrying too much and is exhausted," Fiona added.
"I'll take her to Disneyland, too. What about Ashton, should I look after her as well?" Burl offered boldly.
"Who asked you to look after me, you little rascal?" Ashton’s voice came from behind.
Burl whipped around; he was all smiles until he caught sight of the tall, handsome guy next to Ashton—his guard immediately went up.
Ashton raised Kenny's arm in mock victory, "Lunch is served, and it looks delicious!"
Kenny chuckled at her antics.
Then Ashton took a couple of quick steps and jumped up, smacking the back of Burl's head with a laugh, "What’s with the hair?"
Burl grimaced, "I’ve got important things to do, no time for that!"
"And what might that be? Locking yourself in your room all day with my son while you guys are up to no good—Burl, you better not be a bad influence on my boy!" Ashton warned with a stern look.
Burl just swallowed hard, feeling at a loss for words.
Once Darwin's back on his feet, you'll see the huge thing Charles and I pulled off!" Burl finished, turning his gaze to Kenny. "And who might this be?"
Fiona nearly laughed out loud.
Why did it sound so dramatic?
"Nice to meet you, Burl. I'm Kenny, Ashton's husband," Kenny said with a warm smile.
