Chapter 1291

Back in the day, Wyatt was always rocking a floral shirt, strutting around with this cocky, flirtatious vibe.

But now, that carefree aura was gone. He'd shed a lot of weight, making his bones stand out more, giving him a sharper, more serious look. His hair was neatly combed.

No more floral shirts under his suit. Standing there, he radiated authority.

This was a whole new Wyatt.

Lucian spoke up and even stood.

"My parents have been pushed to their limits. If I don't step up, this won't fly anymore," Wyatt said, his eyes intense and his words hitting hard.

The conference room was dead silent.

Lucian still had that kind, gentle look on his face. "Wyatt, are you blaming me for suggesting we remove your dad from his position back then?"

Wyatt walked straight towards Lucian.

Lucian's bodyguards were on high alert, watching Wyatt closely.

But Wyatt just walked to the chairman's seat, took his eyes off Lucian, and sat down.

"Mr. Durham, that seat isn't yours yet," Lucian's subordinate immediately frowned and spoke, like Wyatt had crossed a line.

"Shut up!" Lucian snapped, then turned to Wyatt, "Wyatt, you can take this seat."

"Uncle Lucian is right," Wyatt said with a smile.

Truth is, he and Lucian always got along well.

Gideon was strict, and Evander was super controlling. But Lucian was always gentle and kind to Wyatt.

When Wyatt couldn't get a toy as a kid, Lucian would sneak it to him.

For a long time, Wyatt liked Lucian and resented Gideon and Evander until he grew up.

Arabella had a heavy heart when she told him about Lucian's background: Lucian was the child of Larry's beloved woman, who sadly died during childbirth. Lucian grew up with his maternal grandparents until he was eight.

The elderly couple felt they couldn't support Lucian's education, so they reached out to Larry.

Publicly, everyone said he was the orphan of a close friend, and the Durham family was just taking care of him.

But as Lucian got older, he looked more and more like Larry.

Arabella wasn't dumb. She secretly did a paternity test, but besides herself, only Wyatt had seen it.

Lucian was indeed Larry's son.

Wyatt was sharp.

Thinking about all the things Lucian had done for him, and during that time, Larry and Arabella were always fighting, always about Larry wanting to give Lucian shares.

In the end, Wyatt didn't know how those fights turned out.

But two years later, Lucian had shares of the Durham Group in his hands. He didn't explain it to anyone.

However, in his heart, Wyatt drew a clear line with Lucian.

Even if not for Gideon and Evander, just for Arabella, he had to draw a clear line with Lucian.

Being an illegitimate child wasn't inherently wrong, but it depended on who you were compared to.

Compared to Arabella, Lucian's existence was a mistake.
