Chapter 174 Time is Not a Cure-All

Chicago had put her heart into it. She had even adorned the envelope with beautiful little flowers.

Upon opening the envelope, Darwin noticed the card. "Chicago is just a child, don't mind the doodles on the letter." the manager delivering the paintings hurriedly said.

"It's fine, it's adorable." Darwin replied as he tucked away the card. It wasn't written specifically for him, the contents were quite formal, seemingly prepared before the auction.

After delivering the paintings, the manager quickly left. Darwin found an empty room and instructed the servants to place the paintings inside. After a moment of thought, he ultimately had someone carefully hang them up.

He stood in front of the painting depicting God. For some reason, looking at the benevolent face of God, he thought he could vaguely see a hint of Fiona.

People say that time is a medicine that can heal everything. Yet, Darwin was in pain.

Why couldn't time heal the agony of losing Fiona for him? Instead, with each passing day, he sank deeper and deeper into grief.

The next day, Fiona was invited to visit RH Company. Upon exiting the car, her assistant, Laura, encountered Lilian unexpectedly.

Lilian didn't seem surprised to see Fiona and, without the panic of their last encounter, she confidently extended her hand, "Chelsea, we meet again."

Laura looked at Fiona. Fiona's expression was steady as she shook Lilian's hand, "Miss Robbins."

After the cordial handshake, Lilian said graciously, "Our client is already waiting, let's go in together."

"Alright."

Lilian acted as if she was quite familiar with the client, hoping to see a flicker of displeasure on Chelsea's face, or perhaps a sense of uncertainty, which would have been ideal.

But she remained calm.

With a gentle smile and lowered eyelids, Lilian wondered if Chelsea also seemed to know she would return, showing no sign of surprise or shock. Could it be that someone had told her in secret?

"Chelsea, have you ever been to Bay City before?" Lilian walked shoulder to shoulder with Fiona, casually striking up a conversation.

"Bay City is a major international financial hub, so naturally, I've been there before." Fiona answered.

Lilian glanced at her. She had responded with such ease, without a trace of anything unusual.

"Of course, with your background in investment banking, how could you have not visited Bay City? Look at me, I get all confused when I meet beautiful people." Lilian said with a laugh.

Joining in on the laughter, Fiona replied, "Miss Robbins, isn't that a bit of self-praise? I was so surprised the last time I saw you, I thought my family had lost a child somewhere. I even asked my elders about it."

Lilian was about to respond, but Fiona continued, "However, Miss Robbins, you've changed quite a lot over these years. I almost didn't recognize you the other day."

Lilian was taken aback for a moment, "You've seen me before?"

"Only by chance. I attended one of the art exhibitions you organized and was fortunate to see you from afar." Fiona answered.

Lilian forced a stiff smile. "My partner prefers me this way, so..." she started to say instinctively, but then stopped abruptly. The way she was now... it was how Fiona used to be.

"Mr. Solomon from Solomon's, right?" Fiona asked with a smile, "I've seen the gossip about you two in the news, you seem very well-matched."

Hearing this, Lilian's confidence surged. She didn't deny the tabloid news about herself and Darwin.

At that moment, Roy came out to greet them with several major shareholders. Seeing the two women arriving together, he had an awkward smile on his face.

Then he turned to his secretary, "Didn't you say one was coming in the morning and one in the afternoon? How did you arrange it?"

"I don't know why, but Miss Robbins came over in the morning..." the secretary said, rubbing their head with annoyance.

"Roy, I just finished up nearby and thought I'd drop by and have a look. I didn't expect to run into Miss Chelsea in the parking lot, so we came together." Lilian said gracefully.

"I see." was all Roy could say.

"Roy, it's getting late, shall we start the tour?" Fiona's straightforwardness remained.
By noon, the tour was over.

Roy wanted a treat, Fiona politely declined. "Sorry Roy, I still have a client to meet in the afternoon, I need to go back and prepare the information, next time, I'll treat you."

"Since Ms. Chelsea has something to do, then I won't delay you, let's make another appointment." Roy didn't force the issue to get her to stay.

On the other hand, Lilian had no intention of leaving at all. She and Chelsea couldn't stay together to talk about things with Roy. And Roy had had a nice chat with Fiona today.

Clearly, Fiona knew more details than Lilian about the big and small matters of RH Company. Therefore, he preferred to have this meal with Fiona and talk in depth again.

However, he wasn't going to give up on Lilian's side either.

Very simply put: Lilian was backed by Solomon capital, with Solomon everything else is good, and rich, very rich. Another point was that this was deep Armie Country business. Compared to the Rhoads family, Roy was more interested in making friends with Solomon.
Fiona and Laura got in the car. Laura glanced out the window at Lilian.

"Roy's secretary just told me that Miss Robbins was originally supposed to come in this afternoon."

Fiona flipped through the papers in her hand, "Everyone has their own strategies, there's nothing to make a scene about. We must just do our own program and be done with it."

"Understood." Laura nodded.

"I have a private dinner to attend in the evening, so you can host the afternoon meeting for me." Fiona turned away from the conversation.

"Got it."

The car drove all the way back to Fiona's house. Chicago and Charles were out, Ashton had taken them to see their grandmother.

Fiona went to the dressing room, picked out a champagne-colored fishtail wrap gown, and called her makeup artist and stylist.

The evening's event was a private dinner for an old friend of Janna's.

The weather in her time zone had been extreme lately, and Janna couldn't make it back in time, so she asked her to help by attending.

After doing her makeup, Fiona put on the matching jewelry and looked at the time, she called her driver to drive over. Just as she was about to leave the house, Charles and Chicago came back.

"Whoa! Fairy mom!" Chicago ran up to Fiona and hugged her leg, looking up at her with a look of infatuation.

Fiona smiled and pinched Chicago's cheeks. "How's Grandma?" She asked as she looked up at Ashton.
