Chapter 1026
"What do you mean the surveillance didn't capture anything?" Fiona had just arrived at Scarlet's place when she heard Scarlet's furious roar.
Scarlet exclaimed, "I spent millions of dollars on the security system for the mansion, and now, at this critical moment, are you telling me you didn't capture anything?"
"Mrs. Solomon, we are currently investigating the malfunction that occurred that night. We will definitely provide you with a satisfactory answer!" Otis said.
"Missed capturing the crime scene, and do you think you can give me a satisfactory answer?" Scarlet was angrier than ever before.
At this moment, Fiona walked in.
"Fiona, you're here." Scarlet's anger subsided a little.
"I'll call Burl to take a look later," Fiona said, "Is it the entire lake's surveillance that's malfunctioning?"
Otis replied, "It's only the lakeside area. After 8 p.m., the surveillance was turned off. We still don't know if it was human error or a malfunction."
"In such a large estate, only the lakeside area has this issue. We can rule out a malfunction," Fiona said, "Directly find all the security personnel on duty that night and question them. The security room has surveillance, too, right? Check all the footage before 8 p.m.."
"Do it immediately!" Scarlet shouted at Otis.
Otis's face turned pale. "We have already notified all the security personnel who were on patrol that night. There's no footage from the security room either."
"Why?" Fiona's gaze was sharp.
Sweat dripped in large beads from Otis's forehead.
The Walker family's security had always been top-notch. For so many years, there had never been any incidents.
It inevitably made people let their guard down.
Some security teams would secretly play on their phones or watch movies in the security room at night.
To avoid being caught, they would turn off the security room's surveillance. Sometimes, they forgot to turn it back on, and it could stay off for half a month. But since nothing had ever happened, no one noticed.
Recently, with the Walker family's happy times and there were many guests, Otis had explicitly warned them that the security room's surveillance must be on, and no playing on phones or watching movies. Once this period was over, everything would be fine.
Unexpectedly, that very night, one of the team members won a lottery ticket worth over twenty thousand dollars.
Thinking to celebrate with everyone, they turned off the security room's surveillance, assuming someone else would turn it back on.
They went on their usual patrol.
Unexpectedly, something happened that very night.
"I understand. Did you guys leave your posts without permission?" Fiona asked succinctly when Otis didn't respond.
Scarlet laughed in anger.
"First, gather all the personnel on duty that night," Fiona continued.
"Almost everyone is here. Two are still unreachable, but I've sent people to their residences to find them!" Otis quickly said.
His job was well-paid, much more than those working in office.
The Walker family was particularly generous, especially with holiday gifts.
Otis certainly didn't want to lose this job. Now, he could only show more initiative.
"I heard Chicago almost saw it, right?" When Fiona walked to Scarlet's side, Scarlet asked with a sorrowful face, "Arnold loved Chicago. He was probably afraid his appearance would scare Chicago."
Scarlet wiped her tears.
Arnold was reliable and understood her well.
In thirty years, he had never made a mistake.
Now he was gone, just like that.
"Scarlet, you haven't had dinner. How about I make you some donuts you like?" Matt asked gently.
Scarlet waved her hand and shook her head. "I won't. Don't bother."
Just then, Anna hurried over after putting Brady and Declan to sleep.
The moment Fiona saw Anna, a suspect suddenly came to her mind.
