Chapter 153 Reunion at the Airport

Two days later, Fiona's private jet touched down in Bay City.

"Mummy!" Chicago raced into Fiona's arms.

Fiona held her close, tears mingling with Chicago's. "Why the tears?"

"I missed Mummy..." Chicago whimpered.

Ashton hugged Charle, asking if he missed his godmother. He nodded, not wanting to upset her.

"What do you think? Is our son too mature?" Ashton asked Fiona.

"Is that bad?" Fiona replied, showering Chicago with kisses until she laughed.

Darwin, rushing for a flight to Boston, thought he saw Fiona at the airport. Lilian tried to hold him back, but the figure disappeared.

"It's nothing," Darwin dismissed her concern, though his heart ached.

Fiona remarked on the new developments in Bay City, including a theme park.

"Mummy, what's Solomon?" Chicago asked.

Fiona explained about Darwin, the business genius.

"Bad brother, Chicago didn't talk to you!" Chicago pouted to Charles, refusing to share the delicious duck she had discovered.

Charles wasn't bothered. "I'm not a greedy pig. I don't need it."

Lying in her mother's arms, she felt a silent sadness. Fiona never intervened when the children squabbled.

Outside the car window, the familiar scenery passed by. Fiona thought it would feel like a lifetime ago, but surprisingly, it felt as if she had left just yesterday. The car drove through the high-tech zone, where Fiona spotted the Solomon Energy sign in the distance.

What had happened to that building since then? And why was Solomon Energy located in this remote high-tech zone?

Fiona recalled Darwin boasting about purchasing the building across the street the day he returned. She had thought those memories would fade after five years, but they returned vividly upon her arrival.

"There's something I need to tell you," Ashton's voice broke through Fiona's reverie.

"Hmm?" Fiona turned to her.

"My grandmother hurt her leg, didn't she? After I came back, I moved her to a better hospital and got her into the VIP ward." Ashton paused. "You were close with the old lady from the Solomon family, right?"

"Fairly close," Fiona responded nonchalantly.

"She's been unwell, something that's developed over the past few months."

Ashton had discovered this when Chicago encountered Darwin at the hospital. Curious why Darwin was in the VIP ward, Ashton had inquired with a nurse, who revealed everything after a little incentive.

"Is that so..." Fiona's thoughts turned to the kind old lady, her feelings complex. In theory, she should visit her, but she wanted no further entanglements with Darwin.

Arriving home, Chicago, full of life, held her mother's hand and led her through their new home, detailing each floor. Exhausted from the tour, Ashton ordered takeout from the restaurant they had encountered on the day they met Darwin's family. Despite the eerie coincidence, Chicago insisted, so Ashton reluctantly placed the order.

"So, is this the famous roast duck Chicago mentioned?" Fiona asked, watching her daughter clumsily wrap the duck. "You're really something, Chicago, even wrapping roast duck?"

Chicago beamed with pride and offered the messy wrap to Fiona, who played along and ate it. Surprisingly, it was delicious.

"It's even better than what I've had in the capital."

"You're incredible, Chicago!" Chicago boasted. "I only watched my Chris make two dumplings and I learned how to do it!"

"Chris?" Fiona glanced at Ashton, who looked stricken.

"Well, Chicago met a handsome Chris!" Chicago gushed to Fiona. "He treated me to roast duck, meatballs, and crab vermicelli soup..."

"You remember all the food!" Ashton glared at her, then explained to Fiona, "She walked into the wrong private room a few days ago and they fed her because she was cute."

"Chicago!" Fiona's tone turned serious. "Is that right?"

Chicago looked down. "But Chris is my friend... I even gave him a butterfly hairpin, mommy."

"Hey, it's been a few days, and I've already scolded her. Let's eat!" Ashton was flustered. If Fiona learned that Chris was Darwin, what then?

Fiona hugged Chicago tightly. "Baby, Mommy doesn't want to scold you, but I also don't want you to be rude. Do you understand?"

Chicago nodded, close to tears.

"Chicago, can you make one for your brother?" Charles suddenly asked.
