Chapter 973

"Jessie, you really did a great job this time!" Fiona watched as Jessie devoured a can of food like he hadn't eaten in days, gently patting his head.
"Keep it up just like today!" Fiona continued.
Jessie quickly finished the can, then sat upright and wagged her tail at Fiona.
Fiona wiped her mouth.
Suddenly, Jessie seemed to think of something, turned around, and started barking towards the room where Darwin was resting.
Fiona quickly covered her mouth. "Jessie, no! Everyone is taking a nap now. Do you want to go outside?"
Jessie seemed anxious, his barks turning into a fretful whining.
Fiona wasn't very familiar with Jessie. She was too busy with work, especially during the time Darwin was missing, leaving early and coming back late every day. So, she didn't quite understand Jessie's barking.
Just then, Xavier hurriedly came in from outside. "Mrs. Solomon."
"Are you looking for Mr. Solomon? He's resting," Fiona replied.
"I'm looking for you," Xavier said, slightly frowning.
"Me?" Fiona stood up. "What's wrong?"
Xavier looked around and reluctantly said, "It's about the incident today, I was there..."
"You don't need to take responsibility for this. It was an unforeseen accident; no one wanted it to happen," Fiona said.
Xavier's frown deepened after hearing this.
Fiona noticed something was off with Xavier. "Just say what you need to say, stop beating around the bush"
"I didn't want to disturb Mr. Solomon and the Chicago's time, and I thought the security inside and outside the Walker family is good, so I followed from a distance. Everything was fine before the incident, but suddenly, Mr. Solomon pushed the young lady. At the time, I didn't know what happened. Later, Mr. Solomon said it was because a golf ball was flying towards them, and he instinctively pushed the Chicago away. So, I wanted to find the person who hit the ball and went to the surveillance room to check the footage..." Xavier's face grew increasingly grim.
He looked at Fiona and said, "But in the footage, there was no golf ball. I only saw Mr. Solomon suddenly look towards the people playing golf and then push the young lady."
"No ball?" Fiona frowned.
Xavier immediately handed over the copied surveillance video to Fiona.
Fiona took the phone.
The surveillance at the Walker family was as clear as it could be.
Fiona repeatedly dragged the progress bar, afraid that the golf ball was too small and too fast and she might have missed it.
But no matter how many times she reviewed it, there was no trace of the ball Darwin had mentioned.
"He might have been distracted by the sound of the game and saw things wrong," Fiona said in a low voice.
"I think so, too," Xavier said, still looking a bit uneasy. "When we get back to the Bay City, Mr. Solomon should go to the hospital for a check-up, right?"
"Yes." Fiona nodded.
"His brain, eyes, everything will be checked, right?" Xavier asked.
He remembered a past incident where Darwin had supposedly saved a child but ended up injured. Later, one of Xavier's subordinates, feeling quite aggrieved, told him that when he ran to the scene after hearing a noise, aside from a toppled bicycle, there was no sign of the boy supposedly involved. The cyclist also denied there was any child. Coincidentally, the surveillance in that area was broken.
Xavier was afraid the situation would escalate, so he quietly settled with the cyclist.
However, after the person left, he asked two street vendors, and one of them said there, indeed, was a child who had just been run over.
Xavier was skeptical.
"Everything will be checked," Fiona replied.
"That's good!" Xavier nodded.
