Chapter 889
"Babies, if you're finished the tour, pack your bags within ten minutes, and we'll head to the lobby." Fiona clapped her hands.
When Charlotte and Ethan arrived, they took their luggage to their respective rooms labeled with their names.
Now, it was Charles and Chicago's turn.
Without a word, Charlotte grabbed Charles' suitcase and placed it in his room for him.
Engrossed in reading, Charles finally heard the commotion.
He glanced over, closed his book, and hurried over, saying, "Thank you, Charlotte."
Charlotte waved her hand. "You keep reading!"
She turned to help Chicago.
Chicago, already strong and capable, had dragged his luggage into his room.
Ethan was still supervising nearby.
Once everything was settled, Thalassa's voice came from outside the courtyard. "Fiona, let's head to the lobby!"
Fiona and Darwin swiftly led the children out.
"Kids, do you like your rooms?" Thalassa inquired.
The responses were quite chaotic.
Charles nodded.
Chicago's eyes sparkled as he kept nodding. "It's awesome!"
Charlotte remarked, "Very good."
Ethan, a bit slow to respond, echoed, "Very good."
Thalassa sighed. "No harmony at all!"
Chicago was happy, finding joy in everything. She hugged Thalassa's arm, swaying and laughing.
"Mr. Walker!" As they spoke, the steward of the Walker family hurried over.
"What's going on?" Kenny withdrew his gaze from his wife to the steward, her expression noticeably cold.
"We have more guests," the steward replied, "relatives from the eldest lady's side."
"Are they the eldest sister-in-law's relatives?" Kenny furrowed his brow slightly.
Anna Torres was Samuel's wife, who came from a complicated family background.
In the previous generation, the Torres family held a prominent position in North Alabama, but by Anna's father David Torres' generation, due to too many sons and the sudden death of Daniel Torres without a will, the family inheritance matters had been tumultuous for four years.
David, the youngest son of the Torres family, didn't inherit much.
For reasons unknown, David regarded Anna and her mother, Ava Moore, as unlucky.
Kenny wasn’t fully aware of what happened next.
In short, David kicked Anna and Ava out for a while.
During this time, Ava tragically passed away due to an unexpected illness.
Perhaps fearing a public backlash, David took Anna back when she was only seven or eight years old.
By then, a young and beautiful mistress named Amelia Brown had already moved into the house.
Two years later, Amelia gave birth to a daughter, Abigail Torres, followed by a son, Leo Torres, a year later.
Before having children, Amelia was unkind to Anna. After having children, she became even more ruthless.
When Anna was twelve years old, Ava paid her a visit.
She found Anna at home, battered and bruised, having dropped out of school.
Ava, a tough woman, caused an uproar in the Torres family and took Anna away.
With a few dollars saved up from running a chip stand, Ava managed to send Anna to a prestigious school abroad.
