Chapter 1120
The car slowly drove off.
Kyle relaxed and looked at Antony. "Mr. White, I came in a hurry and I'm leaving just as fast. Once I sort out the contract issues, I'll come to Bay City and treat you to a meal!"
"No need to be so formal," Antony nodded.
Kyle said a few more things and then hurried off.
Antony watched him leave, then walked to his Maserati.
He got in and gently brushed his hands over the steering wheel.
Who knew what he was thinking.
After a while, he started the car and left the Solomons.
Inside the car, Fiona toyed with Darwin's hand.
"It can take a company ten or twenty years to build up, but it can go bankrupt in an instant," she murmured.
The Durhams were a case in point.
"I knew things were bad over there, but I didn't realize it was this bad," Darwin remarked.
"If Wyatt doesn't hurry back, something big is really going to happen!" Fiona sighed.
Darwin lowered his eyelids, focusing on their intertwined hands.
Back home, the elevator reached the living room. As Fiona and Darwin were about to step out, they were blocked by Burl, who came running.
"The first floor is off-limits to you two right now. Go back to the third floor!" he said.
Fiona remained silent.
Darwin smiled kindly. "Is there a surprise?"
"Don't be stupid. For it to be a surprise, you first have to not know about it!" Burl lowered his voice, clearly annoyed, then reached into the elevator and pressed the button for the third floor.
He stepped back and waved at them.
The elevator doors closed.
Fiona smiled at Darwin. "Do you smell something?"
Darwin smiled helplessly, pursed his lips, and answered honestly, "The smell of something burnt."
The couple exchanged a knowing smile.
In the kitchen, Chicago was fully geared up. Standing on a stool, she was carefully flipping the steak in the pan.
"This time it's not burnt!" She counted the time in her mind and immediately turned off the heat.
Seeing the steak wasn't burnt, Chicago cheered.
Today was Darwin's first day at work.
The AI program in which Charles is involved continues to generate income for Darwin.
Chicago wanted to do something for Darwin too.
After much thought, she saw a cookbook at Stuart's place.
Then, she got the idea to give Darwin and Fiona a big surprise.
Chicago firmly believed that if she was going to do something, she should do it perfectly.
So, for this meal, she chose a vegetable salad, steak, fish soup, dessert, and a fruit platter.
The fish soup had been simmering since Fiona left.
The dessert was donuts she had learned to make earlier.
The fruit platter was a bit haphazard, as she didn't have time to cut the fruit, so she just placed it directly on the plate.
