Chapter 427 Don't Let Her Leave Alive

Alice's people looked at each other, none of them moving. But Fiona and Darwin's team didn't hesitate. Ignoring the vice president's bluster, they promptly dragged him out.

Alice and Ken exchanged glances.

They appeared distressed but didn't intervene.

Why would they? In their eyes, the bolder Chelsea acted, the better it was for them.

At the upcoming shareholders' meeting, they expected their support to grow.

Once the vice president was removed, Ken furrowed his brows and reproached, "Chelsea, we should treat all guests kindly. How could you..."

The guests around them were now holding their breaths.

"No guest has the right to disturb my uncle's peace," Fiona said to Ken, her tone icy.

It had been years since she last saw Ken at a nursing home on the outskirts of Bay City.

The years had aged him, and his eyes carried a cunning shrewdness from a guilty conscience.

"It's up to you," Ken said, looking disappointed as if regretting her rigid stance.

He and Alice then went off to attend to other guests.

Darwin and Fiona found a place to sit. Darwin looked at her with concern.

Fiona sensed his unease and turned to him. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Is he your biological father?" Darwin asked gravely.

"Yes," Fiona responded, "but it means nothing to me. Don't worry, I'm not hurt by it. That would be foolish."

Darwin nodded in acknowledgment, and they fell into a momentary silence.
Ken and Alice found an excuse to leave the funeral for a moment.

"What's she even doing here?" Ken asked, his expression grim.

He had imagined confronting Chelsea countless times but never anticipated a scene like this, not at the funeral.

Looking at Chelsea, he couldn't help but sense the shadows of Jane and Janna in her.

It was an indescribable feeling that washed over Ken.

"People can be so foolish, thinking too highly of themselves and making stupid choices," Alice said contemptuously. "But since she showed up, there's no reason we should just let her walk away scot-free."

"Are you suggesting..." Ken paused and then continued, "that we kill her?"

Alice met his gaze with a mischievous smile. "Honey, you're not getting cold feet, are you?"

Ken's frown deepened instantly. "What nonsense are you spouting? She's the offspring of that wench. The thought repulses me; how could I possibly feel any hesitation? I'm just concerned that her dying on our property could bring unwanted complications at such a delicate time!"

"Complications, complications. If it comes down to it, we hand over the culprit. She's Darwin's wife now, a prime target for many. If she's assassinated, why should it automatically be us? Why not Darwin's enemies? Or Janna's and her own?"

Ken pursed his lips but ultimately said nothing, just nodded. "You handle it. Just ensure it's done cleanly without leaving any loose ends behind."

"Don't worry," Alice reassured him as she wrapped her arms around his waist. "Because of Jane's cruelty, I lost the ability to have children. I know how much you want to have a child of your own, but once we take over the Rhoads family, I'll find a way."

Children had been a silent ache in Ken's heart for years.

Recalling how Alice had been harmed by Jane, leaving her infertile all because of him, he always pushed back any other thoughts that came to mind.

Yet now, Alice was bringing it up voluntarily.

"Really?" Ken asked, visibly excited.

"Yeah," Alice said, holding him tighter. "I'd endure any hardship to make you happy, my love."

"Honey, even if we have children, they will be ours, and there will only be one mother for them, and that's you."

After pacifying Ken, Alice left to carry out their plan.

With a cold face, she found one of her people, took the disinfectant wipe, and scrubbed her hands vigorously.

"Damn it!" she fumed, tossing the wipe away. "That fool, Ken, is considering having children with another woman!"

"Ma'am, we need to keep a cool head. Ken's role will be obsolete once we gain control of the Rhoads family. Then whether to keep him or find a new match will be completely up to you," her aide reassured her.

Alice took a deep breath.
"Get all operable snipers in position. I have only one demand: Darwin and Chelsea cannot leave the place alive."
"Understood!"

Alice steeled her nerves, about to head back, when her phone rang. She answered with a scowl, "Did you find them?"

"Yes, but Jannie's got guards with her, seems like the ones usually with Janna."

"I thought you said Janna's guards got blown up in that car?" Alice hissed in frustration.

“Only God knows if Janna passed something to those guards to hand to Chelsea. If these people get away and it ends up in Chelsea's hands, my chances of winning are seriously compromised.”

"Don't worry, they won't make it out of our block," a sinister male voice promised. "They're all dead!"

After the call, Alice felt an inexplicable sense of panic. It took her a moment to compose herself before she made her way back to the funeral service.

As she entered, Ken strode up to her. "Weren't you feeling unwell? You should've rested a bit longer; I've got everything under control here."

Alice pressed a hand to her forehead, feigning weakness. "I'm okay. The sister-in-law is absent; as the eldest here, I must shoulder more responsibilities."

People nearby immediately started showering Alice with praise.

She glanced at Fiona, who appeared to be on a call. Darwin, usually commanding elsewhere, seemed like those online rumors described him when he was with Fiona – he was a docile husband. Alice couldn't understand it.

What was so great about Chelsea besides her looks? She vividly remembered when her father brought her home, assuming that once the true daughter returned, those who fawned over the fake one would turn their attention to her. But they didn't.

By then, Jane had already married Ken. Ken had inherited his father's good looks and was rarely outdone in that respect. Yet, rather than Ken, Alice initially set her sights on the heir to a jewelry empire.

The heir was Jane's high school classmate who attended the same university. When Jane got married, he was photographed weeping in a drunken state on a street corner. Watching the Rhoads family's vast empire, Alice harbored resentment but thought marrying a jewelry mogul wouldn't be too shabby. So, she attempted to get close to the heir.

But that damn fool couldn't let go of Jane even after her wedding, harassing her relentlessly and overlooking Alice's existence!
