Chapter 753 The Consistent First Place

Xavier was also anxious about Chicago. He went to the hospital immediately after receiving calls from both Chicago and Charlotte. Chicago had arranged to meet with Charles in the morning, so they split up to save time. Darwin's examinations were already completed, and most of the results were available. Fortunately, the blood clot in Darwin's brain had dissipated without leaving any lasting effects. In a way, Darwin had found a silver lining in this disaster. Apart from the need for continued recovery, Darwin's biggest challenge was his amnesia. He now had to relearn many things, including reading. However, there was also good news. After lunch, the results of the coral identification in the Great Barrier Reef came out. Darwin was right; there were indeed rare and precious coral species in that area.

"So, what you've learned won't be completely forgotten. Once you come into contact with something, you'll remember it," Fiona said happily as she placed the biological profiles sent by both laboratories in front of Darwin.

However, Darwin couldn't share her excitement. "Did I cause you trouble?"

At that time, all he wanted was to help Aura's family and save their hotel. He never expected that the developer would turn out to be Fiona.

"No!" Fiona shook her head without hesitation. "Darwin, these corals are truly precious. If you hadn't discovered them, they might have disappeared without a trace. So, it's not trouble; it's your discovery that has protected them!"

"Will the island development project be affected?" Darwin asked.

"Not at all. Not only will the island project remain unaffected, but I will also use this opportunity to promote our resort concept," Fiona replied. "We'll establish a protected area for the rare corals and hire professionals to take care of them. This will make the coral reef a unique feature of our resort."

Darwin joined in, "Yes! This beautiful coral reef is exclusive to our resort." Darwin smiled and continued, "There are many other unique places on the island. You can have the designers explore and build guest rooms based on those unique views."

"Great! When you're feeling better, we'll go back to the island with the design team, and you can share your ideas with them," Fiona suggested.

Darwin was slightly taken aback. "You still allow me to go?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Fiona looked at him. "That island is a gift from you, and it means a lot to me. When we were walking on the beach, I heard Henry telling me about the journey you went through when you bought the island. I hoped that one day, I could walk hand in hand with you under the sunset on the beach."

"Okay." Darwin's eyes were deep, and his smile was incredibly gentle. During this time, he had been trying hard to recall the past, but he still couldn't remember anything. However, his instinctive feelings for Fiona had become a kind of love. He felt a natural desire to be close to her. From the moment Fiona grabbed his hand on the deck, all his feelings of unfamiliarity with her disappeared. His soul and heart were telling him that she was the one he loved the most. Fiona's presence was like that of an angel to him. Fiona could easily heal Darwin's inner anxieties and worries.

A few days later, when Darwin went to see a psychologist alone, he mentioned this thought. The psychologist chuckled and teased, "Haven't you heard that saying... a long time ago, your staff said that no matter how angry you get, as long as your wife appears by your side, she can calm you down in three seconds."

After hearing this, Darwin was happy for several days. This was all part of their future story. The couple was chatting when Fiona heard Chicago's voice from a distance.

"Mommy!"

"They're here so soon?" Fiona checked the time; it had only been twenty minutes since school ended. A few minutes later, the door to the ward opened, and Chicago, with a flushed face and sweating, rushed in.

"Daddy, have you finished your check-up? What did the doctors say? Are you okay? Can you come home with me soon?" Chicago hurriedly asked.

"Yes, I'm all done. The doctors said everything is fine, and I can go home with Chicago soon," Darwin replied gently.

Chicago jumped in place a couple of times and exclaimed, "I knew it!"

"Chicago, why are you in such a hurry? You're all sweaty. Let me wipe your face," Fiona said, reaching out to Chicago.

Chicago happily ran to her and said, "Mommy, I ranked eighth in the school in last week's mid-term exam!"

"What was your rank the time before that?" Fiona asked, her face full of surprise.

"I was 46th!" Chicago puffed out her chest, looking proud, with a face that said, "Praise me, praise me, praise me." Although proud, she was so adorable that she didn't annoy her at all.

"Chicago, you're amazing! How about a reward from me?" Fiona gently touched noses with Chicago.

Chicago enjoyed interacting with Fiona. "I study hard for myself, Mommy. I don't need a reward," Chicago maturely refused.

"I see... I was thinking of asking you to teach Daddy how to read... since you don't need it..." Fiona said, looking disappointed.

"I want it!" Chicago immediately raised his hand high. "I want this reward!"

Darwin's cheeks were a little sore from smiling. When they were on the island, Aura often said, "Blaise, you never smile. Blaise, you should smile more; you look good when you smile!"

Now that he was back with his loved one, Darwin's face was always smiling.

"Chicago changes her mind so quickly," Fiona said, pinching Chicago's nose.

"But, Daddy doesn't know how to read, right?" Chicago looked at Darwin with concern. "You don't recognize any words at all?"

"I know some," Darwin said, feeling a little embarrassed. "If Chicago is willing to teach me, I will learn very seriously!"

When Chicago heard this, she patted her chest and said, "Don't worry, Daddy. I've learned Ethan's teaching method, and I'm good at teaching!"

Fiona watched the interaction, her eyes and brows full of smiles. In the past few months, although Chicago seemed lively, she would suddenly become depressed, probably thinking of her father. Now, the lively Chicago has finally returned. After a while, Charles also arrived. He brought the first prize he won in a physics competition last month. Darwin praised Charles. Charles seemed very pleased.

"My brother always wins the first prize!" Chicago looked even more proud than Charles. "Our teacher said that where my brother is, the second place is the one that needs to compete, and the first place is fixed!" "
