Chapter 1449
Darwin was caught off guard.
He clearly hadn't expected Charles to respond like that.
Feeling a bit awkward, Darwin said, "Actually, the idea for the trip was Mom's. Dad just handled the planning."
"I really like this plan," Charles looked up at Darwin, "Thanks, Dad."
He said thank you again.
In fact, Charles didn't often call Darwin "Dad." Strictly speaking, their communication wasn't very frequent.
When they were alone together, most of the time, they were silent.
The thing they talked about the most was the AI from the Solomon Group.
Even during their first meeting, Darwin didn't feel as deeply as he did now that he had a solid place in Charles's heart.
"No need to thank me." Darwin gently patted Charles's little head.
"I'll go research where on the route we can observe insects." With that, Charles picked up his iPad and politely said to Fiona, "Mom, I'll go back to my room now."
"Go ahead," Fiona smiled and nodded.
Charles went upstairs with his iPad.
Darwin had just felt a moment of love and admiration from Charles, and in a few seconds, he was gone.
"I didn't expect Charles to be not as introverted as he seems. He actually likes going out." Darwin looked at Fiona, his face full of joy and excitement, unable to hide it.
Today was a rare day when he felt recognized by Charles, how could he not be happy?
Fiona looked at Darwin.
She thought to herself, the one who liked going out wasn't Charles.
"Mrs. Solomon!"
Suddenly, a voice came from behind.
Fiona turned around in surprise.
She saw Charlotte nimbly climb in from the terrace and quickly run towards the living room.
Charlotte entered the living room.
Before she could catch her breath, her eyes fell on Darwin, "Mr. Solomon, you're alive!"
Charlotte's emotions were slightly out of control, her face flushed from running too fast, and she smiled at Darwin.
"Mrs. Solomon, you're alive! That's great! I need to tell my father!"
With that, Charlotte was about to leave the way she came.
Fiona grabbed the little hood on the back of her shirt, "Wait, don't rush off. Tell me first, who told you Mr. Solomon wasn't alive?"
"I guessed," Charlotte answered bluntly, "He's been gone for almost a year! Longer than the last time he fell into the ocean!"
Darwin and Fiona were amused by her confident analysis.
"No wonder there was a time when you kept giving me overly sweet chocolates, were you trying to comfort me?" Fiona realized.
Charlotte looked a bit embarrassed, "Mrs. Solomon, I need to find my father."
"Your father knows everything," Fiona gently tapped Charlotte's nose, "It's so sunny, don't run back and forth. I have something to discuss with you."
Charlotte obediently turned around and stood still.
Waiting for Fiona to speak.
"Mr. Solomon has planned a two-week trip. Simply put, we're going to travel a route with lots of beautiful insects," Fiona said gently.
When the trip was mentioned earlier, Charlotte wasn't interested at all.
But when she heard about the beautiful insects, her eyes immediately lit up.
Then, as if she thought of something, Charlotte looked conflicted, "But I'm planning to take the high school entrance exam next year, and time is tight."
"It's not impossible to do both," Fiona said slowly, "You can take online classes in the car, but it will be a bit tough."
"I'm not afraid of hard work!" Charlotte said without hesitation, "Mrs. Solomon, take me too! I'll protect Charles and Chicago!"
