Chapter 1166

After all the running around, Fiona was wiped out and slept soundly in Darwin's arms that night.

Darwin, still freaked out from almost getting shoved down the stairs the day before, couldn't shake off his jitters.

He was worried his darker side might try to mess with Fiona if he let his guard down.

So, he didn't catch much sleep.

Luckily, the other Darwin didn't make an appearance that night.

Darwin racked his brain trying to figure out what set off his other self.

It seemed to happen when he and Fiona had a spat or when he felt uneasy about her.

But his other self never showed up when they were all lovey-dovey.

Darwin made a mental note of this pattern.

In the morning, a fancy breakfast was laid out in the dining area.

Fiona and Darwin had their first breakfast back in Blaise in the little garden downstairs.

"You've got good taste; this place is really nice," Fiona said, chilling in the garden chair, letting the breeze play with her hair. "Do you remember why you bought this place?"

Darwin shook his head gently.

"Because I liked it," Fiona said with a smile.

"No wonder," Darwin replied.

"No wonder what?" Fiona asked.

"I used to really like Blaise," Darwin said. "When I helped Aura and the others fight the Solomon Group, I didn't want to leave."

"I can feel that!" Fiona said, taking a deep breath with her eyes closed.

"Feel what?" Darwin asked.

"I feel that you love me very much," Fiona said, opening her eyes and smiling proudly.

Darwin laughed. He got up, leaned over, and kissed her. "You finally felt it."

As they were being all cute, Fiona's eyes fell on Darwin's new cane.

"Darwin, when you saved that kid last time, didn't you bring your cane?" Fiona asked.

Darwin paused, then nodded. "I was in a hurry and didn't bring it."

"I watched the video of you fighting," Fiona said. "Your leg didn't seem to have any issues."

Darwin frowned and touched his injured knee. "In fact, after I got cut that day, I dropped my cane and didn't use it until I got home."

"At the last check-up, the doctor was puzzled. Your leg seemed to have recovered well, but it didn't look like it," Fiona said, moving closer. "Darwin, could it be that your leg has mostly healed, but for some reason, you still feel like it hasn't?"

"Are you saying it's a psychological barrier?" Darwin asked.

Fiona nodded.

"When we see the specialist, I'll ask about it," Darwin said, holding Fiona's hand. "Don't worry, I'll see the doctor properly this time. Whatever the problem is, we'll solve it."

Fiona felt comforted and secure.

As long as Darwin cooperated with the treatment, she believed they could overcome anything.

"Okay," Fiona said, taking a sip of her coffee. "By the way, when is that kid going back to Bay City? If it's soon, should we take him camping with us?"

Darwin thought for a moment and said, "I'll ask him later."
