Chapter 74 Work Notes Content

Bella had been having a rough go of it lately, like, seriously rough.

First off, Fiona got the boot, and Bella slid right into her spot.

She really thought her luck was turning around.

But nope, that didn't last long.

Ever since that yacht party, Darwin hadn't even given her a second look.

Even her face, which was a dead ringer for Lilian's, didn't do it for him anymore.

Then Darwin went and got all engaged, showing off his hot fiancée to the media.

Bella didn't really care about that.

She knew about Darwin's business deal with the Ross family way before Fiona did.

What really freaked her out was that after he got engaged, he ditched Hathaway and went nuts trying to find Fiona.

They were all just stand-ins.

Fiona left, so Bella took her place.

Bella thought Darwin was the type to never look back.

The more she thought about it, the more it scared her.

People said feelings grew over time.

Darwin and Fiona had been together for five years.

Bella was terrified Darwin had gotten used to Fiona and mistook that habit for love or something.

If that was true, what chance did she have?

Darwin's legal wife was Hathaway. The side chick he kept around was Fiona.

The more Bella thought about it, the more she knew she couldn't just sit around.

She spent days at home scheming.

Finally, she had a plan.

If Darwin liked stand-ins, then she'd replace Fiona!

The notebook landed in front of Darwin.

He'd seen it before; Fiona said it was her work journal.

He never bothered to look at it.

"Darwin, she told me herself that during those five years with you, everything she did to please you, whether in bed or out, was just work, no feelings involved!" Bella's eyes filled with tears.

She looked so pitiful, just like Lilian used to.

But Darwin didn't look at her.

His long fingers picked up the notebook and flipped to a random page.

Fiona's handwriting was gorgeous.

The date on this page was from right after she started working for him.

[He likes it when you cry out in pain (the more delicate and pitiful, the better), he'll become gentle.]

[After a bath, spray some Hermès Terre d'Hermès; he'll like it more.]

Stuff like that, about his bedroom preferences that he hadn't even noticed himself, Fiona had written down in detail.

Next to him, Bella kept stirring the pot.

"On the day of the handover, she gave me this notebook without a second thought, telling me to follow it to make you happy." Her tears fell. "I just felt bad for you!"

Darwin finally looked up at her.

Bella's nose was red from crying.

Those eyes, so much like Lilian's, were full of emotion.

If there was one thing Fiona didn't have like Lilian, it was her eyes.

So, the notebook also mentioned: ["Buy more pretty and seductive lace ribbons; he likes to cover the eyes. (Because my eyes are the least like Lilian, I need to take a makeup class to learn how to make myself look more like Lilian.)]

Seeing Darwin finally look at her, Bella pushed her luck. "You were with her for five years. You gave her houses, money, status. You've never wronged her? And what did she do? Treated you like trash the moment it ended, even gave away these private notes!" she spat, biting her lip in anger.

"She shouldn't have given it away," Darwin said, closing the notebook.

Bella's heart leapt.

But then Darwin added, "And you, an ungrateful person, don't deserve the effort she put in to help you rise."

Bella's face went pale. "Darwin, what did you say?"

"She gave you this to help you avoid my pet peeves and please me faster," Darwin said. "You show no gratitude and come to me to badmouth her. What else are you but ungrateful?"

"I was feeling sorry for you!" Bella shot back.

Darwin stood up, looking at her with pure disdain. "That's not necessary."

"Darwin!" Bella panicked, reaching out to grab his hand.

Darwin dodged her touch, disgusted.

She missed.

Darwin was about to leave.

She stepped in front of him. "Fiona doesn't even like you. As soon as she heard you were getting married, she quit! But I'm different. I like you so much that I don't care about anything! Even if you get married, it won't change my feelings!"

Darwin laughed coldly. "That's the difference between you and Fiona. She has morals and shame; you don't."

Bella was stunned.

Henry, hearing the commotion, rushed in.

Seeing Bella's state, he was momentarily confused, then horrified as he looked at Darwin. "Mr. Solomon..."

"Go to HR and process her resignation. Notify security that she is no longer allowed into the Atlas Group," Darwin said coldly.

He took Fiona's notebook and walked out.

He didn't give Bella another glance.

"No!" Bella couldn't believe it.

She looked so much like Lilian; how could Darwin kick her out?

Her uncle had said even if Darwin didn't have a relationship with her, he would still provide for her lavishly because of her face!

Did she do something wrong?

She was only trying to expose Fiona's true nature for Darwin's sake.

Did he really like Fiona that much?

Bella screamed inside, 'Fiona! You promised you would leave and not get tangled up with Darwin! It's all your fault!'

"Ms. Robbins?" Henry sneered.

He had watched Bella's drama unfold.

If she had just behaved, even if Darwin didn't have an ambiguous relationship with her, she would still have a high salary and bonuses, and Darwin had arranged for her to live in a high-end neighborhood.

That life was pretty sweet.

But she was too greedy.

"Get lost! I know you and those people outside are all Fiona's people!" Bella raged, lashing out. "Fiona's playing hard to get, and you all helped her, didn't you? Do you think Fiona can stay by Darwin's side for long? Just wait! When the real one comes back, this fake will be thrown away like garbage by Darwin! None of you will escape!"

Henry was taken aback by her outburst.

Bella, still not satisfied, gave him a hard shove before storming out.

Henry nearly stumbled.
