Chapter 678

Upon hearing this, Christopher let out a big sigh of relief. He admired Fiona a little more in his heart. Indeed, he was a petty person, always thinking the worst of others.

"Christopher, let's stop fighting from now on. Whoever becomes the leader is fine. With Mr. Solomon's fate uncertain, madam is under immense pressure. We must unite and be her support, doing our best to help her through her troubles!" Xavier said.

"Alright!" Christopher readily agreed. "Just because Fiona has been so nice to my daughter, I'm willing to go through anything for her!"

Robert's parents arrived in Bay City in the evening. After checking in at the hotel, they immediately contacted Fiona's people and requested a meeting.

But little did they know.

"Our madam is celebrating Christmas with her family and doesn't have time. Please patiently wait until the end of the holiday," they were told.

Robert's parents had always been heaven's pride, adored by everyone. It never occurred to them that, when they personally came to see Fiona, they would be treated so coldly!

Robert's father, a fat man who looked arrogant and pompous, angrily asked the butler who had accompanied them, "Where are the Ross family's people? Haven't they arrived yet?"

"They seemed to have given up on Miss Annie and are not in a hurry because they have a huge cooperation with Solomon. The Rhoads family has not taken action against them yet."

Of course, the Ross family was not in a hurry.

They confirmed that, at most, Annie was only aware of the murder case, but she was never involved.

At most, she kidnapped Fiona.

But later on, she voluntarily released her.

Robert's henchmen did all the killings.

"Damn it!" Robert's father slammed the table and repeated the same words he had said countless times recently. "It must be that bitch Annie who brainwashed Robert and made him do all these things!"

"Yes, Robert has always been the most obedient since he was a child. How could he kill so many people and dare to harm Darwin!" Robert's mother expressed her indignation.

Although this son had always been introverted and not close to his parents, he was truly a well-behaved child who never got involved in anything!

How could he create so many murder cases and even bring Darwin, this jinx, down with him?

Robert couldn't possibly neglect the family!

"In any case, after we see Fiona and Janna, we must blame the Ross family entirely. This is their plot to frame us, so they should suffer the consequences!" Robert's father said fiercely.

The two families have always been at odds.

Now, they are both involved in such a big matter.

The Astralis family's thoughts were very simple.

If they couldn't escape, they must also make the Ross family pay the price!

The next day, Thalassa and Kenny rushed back from North Alabama.

Thalassa's mother-in-law prepared a lot of things for Charles and Chicago, including food, entertainment, and a large sum of money.

She would have come personally if it hadn't been for too many relatives coming to the house.

The atmosphere in Emerald Pool was better than Thalassa imagined.

The weather was good today.

Charles was feeding fish by the lake with Fiona. Chicago was practicing martial arts with the dog and Charlotte, looking quite skillful. Janna was busy with Stuart in the vegetable garden.

The only one who seemed anxious was Burl.

"Brother-in-law," Burl weakly called out to Kenny.

After Darwin's incident, Burl has come to accept it. That was the best for his sisters as long as Kenny treated his sister well and they could stay together for a long time.

If he left Thalassa alone in the world, Thalassa would be heartbroken.

Brul even witnessed the process of Fiona almost sacrificing herself.

Kenny gave Burl a gift of money."New year, new luck."

Burl accepted it obediently and said, "Thank you, brother-in-law."

"You used to be happy with just five dollars, but even with such a big cash gift from your brother-in-law, you can't give me a smile?" Thalassa poked Burl's face. "Don't be like this. If you continue like this, Fiona will feel even worse."

Burl looked toward the lake.

"If Fiona is upset, then I wouldn't be as upset. Most of the time, these past few days, she seemed too normal. It made me anxious."

"Why are you so anxious? Your sister has always been the strongest!" Thalassa said decisively.

All these years, Thalassa had never seen Fiona break down.

Not in the past, nor now!

Burl glanced at Thalassa and muttered, "If Christopher hadn't come in time that day, do you know what would have happened?"

Thalassa was taken aback.

Thalassa's heart suddenly felt uneasy. "What would have happened?"

"Alright, that's in the past. Let's not talk about it anymore." Kenny interrupted their conversation.

But Thalassa wasn't ready to end it like this.

"What did you see?" Thalassa's face turned serious. "Fiona, she wanted to sacrifice herself, didn't she?"

Once these words were out, even Thalassa herself was startled.

He quickly looked around, afraid of being heard by children or Janna.

Burl remained silent, which was a tacit agreement. He then said despondently, "Can you blame me for being anxious? Can you blame me for being scared?"

Humans are too fragile.

It was too easy for Fiona to want to die.

She could have cut her wrists, swallowed pills, walked onto the road, jumped from a high place, or drowned.

But it would only take a moment.

"I understand." Thalassa's heart raced with fear.

For so many days, Thalassa hadn't asked Fiona about what really happened that day. How did she escape from the scene? Why couldn't Darwin escape?

Now, these questions had roughly been answered. Darwin couldn't escape because his actions were restricted. If Christopher hadn't arrived in time, Fiona would have accompanied Darwin in death.
Thalassa glanced sideways at Fiona, who fed her son the fish.

How deep was this lake?

Thalassa's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly ran over there.

The fish were happily eating but were startled by the hurried footsteps and swam away.

"Hey, no matter what I say, you never listen. Didn't I tell you to spend more time with your parents? I'm fine over here." Fiona looked at Thalassa helplessly.

"I miss Charles!"

Thalassa tried to calm her frightened heart.

Thalassa squatted down and planted a kiss on Charles's cheek.

Charles still had that helpless look on his face as he gently wiped his cheek. "Godmother, Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year!" Thalassa smiled.

But Thalassa couldn't help but glance at Fiona.

Thalassa could hardly imagine the situation now if Fiona and Darwin had really died together.

What about Janna? What about Charles and Chicago? What about her and Burl?

With these thoughts, Thalassa's stomach churned, and she couldn't hold back and turned her head to vomit a few times.
