Chapter 667 Hathaway loved you the best.
This time, someone answered the call immediately, "Who is this?"
Mike's voice was very urgent.
"It's me, where is Darwin?" Fiona's voice trembled.
"Chelsea, are you okay? Where are you?! I'll send someone to pick you up right now!"
"What about Darwin?!" Fiona was unprecedentedly impatient.
"Mr. Solomon tracked your phone signal and sent people to the last location it appeared two hours ago. Haven't you met him?"
Fiona's blood seemed to freeze.
"What about Charles and Chicago?" Fiona asked.
"Miss and Master are fine. You don't have to worry."
One of the two assassins was about to target Charles and Chicago. Mike, please make sure to protect them," Fiona said tearfully. "No matter what you hear about Darwin and me, Emerald Pool's security should not be withdrawn. If you encounter anyone suspicious, take immediate action. Do you understand me?"
"Yes!" Mike answered firmly. "Where are you? I will send someone to pick you up!"
"No need. Send me the address you found."
"Chelsea..." Mike sensed that something was wrong.
"Send it to me." Fiona insisted.
Mike complied, and a moment later, Fiona heard her phone vibrate twice.
Fiona lowered her eyelids and clenched her phone. "Mike, if I can't make it back tonight, please take care of Charles, Chicago, and Janna."
Before Mike could react, Fiona ended the call.
As soon as Fiona looked up, she met Annie's gaze, who had already gotten out of the car.
"Are you going to find Darwin?" Annie asked in astonishment.
"Hey, handsome, I need to borrow your phone. Someone will bring you a new one later," Fiona said, confirming that Crimson had been taken out of the car. Without hesitation, Fiona got back into the car and swiftly drove into the night.
Annie stood still, dumbfounded.
Annie thought Fiona would choose her child, not Darwin, who appeared to be walking straight into a deadly trap.
Did Fiona love Darwin that much?
No, not quite.
Darwin must have already fallen into Robert's trap.
"These two people..." Annie stood in place, speechless, and laughed.
As Annie continued to smile, her laughter gradually faded.
If Annie had known earlier that Fiona was not just Darwin's mistress, and if she had known that Darwin and Fiona loved each other...
No matter how much she adored her, Annie wouldn't have sent Hathaway to be by Darwin's side.
Darwin finally located where Fiona's cell phone signal had last appeared two hours ago.
Darwin immediately rushed there with his men.
Upon arrival, they only found a dilapidated house.
"Mr. Solomon, be careful. There might be a trap. I'll have my men investigate for any explosives."
Darwin was anxious, but he also feared that there might be a bomb trap. It wouldn't matter if he were injured or killed in an explosion, but if Fiona were there, it would be disastrous!
Xavier led his team in quickly searching for explosives.
After confirming that there were none, they soon made a horrifying discovery in a room on the west side of the house.
There was a woman, covered in blood, with her hair loose, hanging from the ceiling beam. It was difficult to see her face, but her shoes and clothing matched those of Fiona before she disappeared during the day nearly perfectly.
Xavier saw the moment of the female corpse.
Xavier's scalp tingled.
Xavier quickly turned away and ran to Darwin, struggling to say, "Mr. Solomon, there is a female corpse inside."
Before Xavier could finish speaking.
Darwin rushed in immediately.
Despite the cold weather, there was so much blood that Darwin could smell the pungent stench as soon as he entered.
Darwin stiffly stared at the figure that closely resembled Fiona, almost collapsing to the ground.
"Mr. Solomon!" Xavier exclaimed anxiously.
Then Darwin said, "It's not her."
Xavier paused, immediately instructing someone to lower the female corpse and pull back the hair covering her face. Xavier also heaved a sigh of relief.
Although the appearance was severely damaged, a prosthetic was exposed at the nose of the female corpse. Fiona had not gotten any plastic surgery, so this couldn't be her.
But this person also looked familiar.
"Isn't this Miss Bella?" someone exclaimed.
Only then did Xavier recall that this face was the surrogate Mr. Solomon found when he was angry with Secretive Woods.
"He dares to trick me!" Darwin was furious. "Continue searching!"
The group was about to leave.
"What's that sound?" Xavier keenly noticed something.
Soon after, several streams of white mist sprayed out from the corners of the house.
"Uh oh, Mr. Solomon, quickly cover your mouth and nose!" Xavier lunged toward Darwin.
However, no one could withstand the high drug concentration, even with Xavier protecting Darwin and rushing out.
In no time, when they reached the entrance, they couldn't open the gate.
A few seconds later, the two fell unconscious at the doorstep.
When Darwin woke up again, he heard the sound of waves.
Darwin's eyelids were heavy, and his throat was suffering from excessive smoke inhalation.
"You're awake?"
Robert's gentle voice, devoid of any emotion, sounded across from Darwin.
Darwin looked coldly at him.
This face was not unfamiliar to him.
"Robert," Darwin spoke.
"I have long admired Mr. Solomon's name. Today, I finally meet you formally." Robert looked at Darwin. You are indeed very good-looking. No wonder Hathaway fell in love with you at first sight. Every time we met, she always praised you a lot."
Darwin glanced at his own hand.
Robert used an iron chain to lock his hand to a pillar.
Robert seemed afraid that he might escape. On the iron chain, there were four iron locks. "Stop looking. You can't escape." Robert glanced at the sunset outside the window. "Hathaway loved beautiful sunsets the most. At this wonderful moment, I will send you to her. She will be pleased."
Darwin looked at Robert with disgust. "You love her so much, yet you are sending another man to be with Hathaway. How noble of you."
"Because Hathaway loved you." Robert didn't get angry at Darwin's mockery. "Don't worry. Your wife will be fine. Once you die and your children die, my people will safely return her."
"Robert! If you dare touch my children, even if I become a ghost, I will tear Hathaway apart so she can never find peace!"
Darwin probably knew that he was inevitably going to die. So he didn't threaten to do anything to Robert. He went straight for a showdown.
On Robert's calm face, changes quickly took place.
"Darwin, why are you so cruel to Hathaway? She was the person who loved you the most in this world!" Robert shouted excitedly, "Your wife, in the past, agreed to be a surrogate because of money. Upon knowing she couldn't become your wife, she immediately chose to abandon you and be with the young master of the jewelry group. Later, despite knowing that you would be desperate and heartbroken, she faked her death and ran away. Hathaway would never let you suffer like that. Hathaway would die with you, but your wife definitely won't! She will choose a life that benefits herself!" "
