Chapter 692 Slap on the Face
Strictly speaking, Vincent has never clashed with Fiona.
In his thought, Fiona was called the myth of Wall Street all because the Rhoads family was blowing their own trumpet.
Her abilities were limited, to say the least.
Therefore, at this moment, when Vincent heard the CEO of the company he was about to work for speaking to her in such a submissive manner, Fiona even dared to threaten him directly over the phone.
Vincent slowly realized that there seemed to be some problems with his decision.
"Don't worry, Fiona. I absolutely won't poach my friends!" President Maxwell immediately responded.
"And thank you for helping me spread the message I just said. Any energy company that dares to accept them will meet the same fate," Fiona said gently.
President Maxwell kept responding one after another.
After hanging up the phone, he immediately called the HR director to ask about the matter.
"I told you before that I had dug up a team that took core data and left..."
"You son of a bitch! Why didn't you say it was Solomon Energy? Why didn't you say it was Chelsea's company?"
"But didn't Darwin die? What are you afraid of?" The HR director, who was President Maxwell's lover, felt somewhat defiant even after being scolded and muttered.
"You idiot!" President Maxwell angrily scolded, "Do you think Chelsea is someone to mess with? Those Wall Street people are all afraid of her. Do you think it's just because she is a Rhoads family granddaughter and Darwin's wife? Do you know that you nearly drove my company to the brink of bankruptcy?!"
The HR director froze suddenly.
"But the team had the core data..."
"You guys haven't already used the core data, have you?" President Maxwell widened his eyes.
"It's in the lab."
"Immediately make them stop!" President Maxwell shouted.
The HR director hurriedly took out the phone to call the research and development department.
But at this moment, the research and development department called President Maxwell first.
"Sir, there are some problems in Lab 3. When testing the core data provided by Mr. Oberlin, the entire lab's equipment went into paralysis!"
President Maxwell almost fainted.
The investment cost of a lab could be worth millions.
If they couldn't retrieve it!
He would be spending millions of dollars without earning a single cent at the beginning of the year!
President Maxwell was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.
Fiona threw her phone on the table and hugged her arms, looking at Vincent. "Vincent, I just saved you a big penalty fee."
Vincent's face turned extremely ugly.
"Secretary Woods, did you have to push me to my limits? We had no choice. With Mr. Solomon gone, all your attention was on Solomon Headquarters. We were afraid of not being able to live a good life. We completed our work properly before preparing to seek opportunities at other companies," he said.
"Do you know? The day after my husband had an accident, you came to mind." Fiona stared at Vincent. "Vincent, you are a complete scoundrel. It's normal for you to do some shameless things when chaos arises."
"You!" Vincent gritted his teeth.
But what Fiona said next struck Vincent like a thunderbolt.
"So, I promptly had someone replace that core data you took to deliver to President Maxwell. It was actually a malicious virus created by my son." Fiona smiled. "If President Maxwell trusts you and uses it in the laboratory, all you can do now is pray that they don't open more laboratories. Otherwise, you won't be able to afford the consequences."
Vincent certainly knew the value of such a laboratory.
He felt like he was going crazy right then and there.
"You wicked woman! You knew what I was going to do and intentionally did these things to harm me? How can you be so malicious?!" he exclaimed.
Christopher stepped forward and kicked Vincent in the lower back.
Vincent let out a cry and fell to the ground, his face filled with unbearable pain.
"You scum! We have a pot of food at home, and I put some poison in it. You wouldn't die if you didn't come to steal it! You secretly eat it and blame my master for being malicious? Did your parents die early and fail to teach you how to be a decent person?"
The office door swung open wide.
Everyone outside could see what was happening inside.
Vincent had suddenly resigned before.
He told everyone he didn't want to stay with an incapable boss, so he quit.
Not long after that, the security at Solomon Energy locked down the building.
They announced that no one was allowed to leave the company before Secretary Woods came.
Vincent then claimed that Secretary Woods knew the company couldn't function without him.
Now, the situation had shifted completely.
Secretary Woods didn't want Vincent to stay, yet Vincent, who seemed so convincing, had stolen the company's core data and given it to another company.
This was already shocking enough.
But it turned out Secretary Woods had already sensed Vincent's ambition and set up a trap, leading Vincent and his accomplices into a pit of fire.
"You wouldn't even find this in a corporate thriller!" someone whispered in disbelief.
"Who on earth is saying that Secretary Woods is Darwin's mistress? Whose mistress would threaten the CEO of a publicly traded company and try to bankrupt him?"
"I can breathe a sigh of relief now. With Secretary Woods here, the company won't collapse, woohoo!"
The people outside were given a second chance at life.
The people inside, however, changed their expressions.
Once they snapped back to reality, panic set in.
"Fiona, I did not know about the data theft. Vincent has been my mentor for many years. He said Solomon Energy was failing and wanted to take me somewhere else to develop. I trusted him and went! Please give me another chance. I won't resign. I will work hard for the company and create more profits!"
"Fiona, me too! Me too!"
Seven or eight people pleaded and began begging for mercy, except for the two involved in the data theft.
They shifted all the blame onto Vincent.
Vincent covered his waist, feeling like it was about to break, and glared at them viciously.
At this point, there was no way Vincent could escape.
If he couldn't escape, then nobody could!
"Bullshit! They were all involved!" Vincent shouted loudly.
"Vincent, you deceived us, and now you want to harm us!" The man who initially begged for mercy, claiming Vincent was his mentor, lunged forward and grabbed Vincent, ready to wrestle him to the ground.
He graduated from one of the top schools in the world and had a successful career at Solomon Energy, where he was recognized for various aspects of his work.
He wouldn't have inexplicably submitted his resignation to the company if he hadn't fallen for Vincent's deception.
News of the data theft spread.
In this industry, he would never be able to survive!
Furthermore, Secretary Woods had just made a statement about crippling them!
Without the top-notch skills, nobody would risk offending Secretary Woods for him!
Thinking of this, the man's fear multiplied countless times.
He bought a house last year, and if he lost his job, he couldn't afford the high mortgage payments. He would soon be getting married in October, and his girlfriend would surely abandon him!
