Chapter 968

As he stepped out, she witnessed this scene. "Mrs. Beaumont, are you... are you kidnapping Milo?"
"Nope, Milo originally belongs to Stella. Your mommy brought it to me, and now I am taking it back home!" Stella said happily.
Chicago nodded uncertainly and quickly went to get the cat food.
Upon seeing this, Alexander immediately stepped forward to help.
"Mr. Beaumont, take good care of Milo!" Chicago expressed her usual concern, even though they had only met the little kitten that morning.
"Don't worry, Chicago. I will." Alexander patted Chicago's little head. Alexander really liked Chicago. Chicago didn't carry a trace of a spoiled rich girl; she was passionate, pure, and very kind. At such a young age, she could already empathize deeply with others' joys and sorrows.
Then Chicago walked back to Milo to instruct it to be good.
After Stella and Alexander left with the cat, Chicago skipped off to find her dad.
Darwin was reviewing Solomon's financial report for the last quarter.
Chicago hummed a tune as she entered. She called out cheerfully, "Daddy!" Then she saw Darwin's stern and intimidating expression with furrowed brows.
She immediately froze in place.
Just a second later, Darwin snapped out of it and quickly stood up. "Chicago, why are you here? Are you done with your studies?"
Chicago nodded lightly. "Daddy, what happened just now?"
Darwin looked puzzled. "Daddy was just looking at the company's financial report."
"Is the financial situation bad? Daddy, you looked so fierce just now." Chicago quickly forgot the frightening sight of her father and moved closer to cuddle against him. "Did we lose a lot of money?"
"No, Mommy is very capable. The company isn't in debt and has made quite a profit." Darwin gently stroked his daughter's cheek. "Maybe I was too focused, did I scare you, Chicago? I'm sorry..."
Chicago shook her head. "Daddy, let me take you for a walk. Sitting for too long isn't good!"
"Alright," Darwin responded gently and lovingly.
For a moment, Chicago doubted if she had imagined her dad's fierce look. Daddy wouldn’t be that harsh, not even when he was the handsome uncle; he would never be harsh with her!
With those thoughts, her brief fear vanished. She held Darwin's big hand with her small one, chattering about how Ethan's questions were getting harder. She almost got a zero!
On their way out, Chicago checked on Charles and Charlotte. Charles was still in a video conference, and Charlotte was busy writing. Ethan was also busy writing. He now had to divide his energy into daily studies, teaching Chicago, and solving competition problems. So, most of the time, Ethan was in his room. Occasionally, at dusk, Chicago would drag him out to play.
"Daddy." Chicago looked up at Darwin.
Darwin initially thought that seeing other kids studying might make his daughter feel pressured.
But unexpectedly...
"Let's be sneaky!" Chicago whispered, "Don't get caught!"
Darwin paused, then couldn’t help but laugh. He almost forgot Chicago never felt pressured when it came to having fun.
He nodded and mimicked Chicago's whisper, "Alright, let's be sneaky..." Then, the two crouched and left the yard.
