Chapter 1344
Fiona was cracking up, her shoulders shaking with laughter.
"Emrys, what if they keep bugging you for my mom's contact info?" Chicago asked, poking her head out.
Fiona wasn't exactly a pro at doing hair.
Right now, Chicago's hair was tied up but looking a bit frizzy.
Charles would sometimes try to smooth it down, but it didn't really help much.
"Just delete and block them!" Emrys said, tilting his head towards Chicago.
Chicago was super cute, with a soft and sweet voice.
"And then you can get Uncle Christopher to teach them a lesson!" Chicago suggested. "Did you see those slaps earlier, Emrys? He knocked their teeth out!"
At first, Emrys's family was worried that Christopher's violent streak would freak out Charles and Chicago.
But surprisingly, Chicago seemed to be all for it!
"Alright, stop giving Emrys bad ideas." Fiona patted Chicago's head and then turned to the Blacksmith family. "I've got some stuff to handle back in Bay City, and the kids have school tomorrow, so we gotta go."
"Alright! Thanks a lot for everything!" Emrys's parents nodded quickly.
"No worries," Fiona said, leading the kids to the door, giving one last glance back.
If she had been more alert that day and asked more about Vespera and Aiden, she might have gotten some useful info from Vespera.
After Fiona's family got in the car and left, Emrys's family stood at the door, watching as the car drove out of the alley.
"Grandma once said a kind person had come into Darwin's life. I wondered how kind they could be. I never expected that over time, Marigold and Emrys would need this kind person to save their lives." Amias sighed, wiping away tears.
"Dad, don't be like this." Emrys gently comforted, "After going through this mess, we've seen everything clearly. From now on, we'll live our own lives."
"Yeah." Emrys nodded. "In the next few days, let's go to Bay City, transfer the house ownership, and then, like Grandma said before she passed, take a trip to Elysium where she once lived and worked, before Emrys starts school!"
"Great, Mom also said she never had a honeymoon, so this will make up for it!" Emrys said.
A warm breeze brushed past his face.
It felt just like when Vespera used to gently caress his cheek.
Emrys felt a bit emotional.
He looked in the direction the wind was blowing.
He thought to himself, 'Vespera, don't worry about us. From now on, we'll live well for ourselves, no longer tied down by family constraints, just like you wanted.'
Vespera really hated how Emrys's parents could never say no to the Blacksmith family's demands, always putting in effort and money without getting anything back.
She had scolded them many times, but it didn't really change anything.
If her death taught them a lesson, then maybe she finally got her wish.
Meanwhile, the car drove steadily on the highway.
Fiona's mind was still stuck on the medicine issue.
She had someone look into it again.
Back when Aiden was seriously ill, the only person who had close contact with him and was still alive was Vespera. After Vespera passed away, there was no one left who knew the details of the people around Aiden.
