Chapter 1286
"You don't really love Darwin, you just love yourself!" Rose spat out, her teeth clenched.
"Are you serious? No matter how strong I am, Darwin is always my equal. Don't lump him in with those lesser beings." Fiona paused for a moment. "When Darwin gets back, feel free to repeat that in front of him. Let's see what he has to say."
Rose's fists tightened.
Fiona leaned back and hit the intercom button. "Get Mr. Clark back in here to continue the meeting."
A moment later, Henry walked through the office door.
Rose was still standing there, her body rigid with tension.
"You'll regret this!" she snapped before storming out.
"Ms. Woods," Henry said cautiously, looking at Fiona.
"Go ahead," Fiona replied, finding Rose too annoying to waste any more time on. She'd rather get on with business with Henry.
Still, some of what Rose had said earlier stuck with Fiona.
She only knew that when Aiden and Marisole died, Marisole's sister was just a teenager. Later, she became a single mom and got help from Brooke. A few years later, she passed away.
Fiona wasn't clear on the exact cause of her death.
Rose had mentioned her mother saying similar things, maybe these views were passed down from her.
Fiona had a hunch there was more to this story.
Henry continued his report.
Fiona, momentarily distracted, decided to have someone look into Marisole's low-profile sister.
Meanwhile, Rose stormed out of the CEO's office and headed back to her own.
She'd been working on this floor for a while now and hadn't really clicked with anyone.
When she got off the elevator, a group of people were chatting.
As soon as they saw her, they went silent and scattered.
Rose felt more and more like she was being targeted.
But when she worked with Hubert, it wasn't like this.
Rose thought, 'Is this Fiona's doing?'
