Chapter 1238

"You're sick, and we've got the best doctors and medical team here, so you need to stay for treatment," Fiona said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Darwin's hand started to shake. He looked at Fiona and forced a smile. "What about you? You'll stay with me, right?"

Fiona saw the fear in Darwin's eyes and it broke her heart.

But she shook her head.

Darwin's face fell apart instantly.

"Don't do this." Darwin gripped Fiona's hand tightly, tears streaming down his face like a lost puppy. "I'll listen to you, I'll take my meds, I'll do whatever Hubert says. Just don't leave me! Please take me home!"

Seeing this, Hubert signaled to the two tall assistants waiting at the door.

The assistants came over immediately.

Fiona stopped Hubert with a look.

"Darwin, I'm not abandoning you," she said, holding his hand tightly. "Your condition is more complicated than we thought, and I'm one of the main triggers for your episodes. If I'm around, it could mess up your treatment."

"That's all lies," a mocking voice filled Darwin's ears. "It's not the first time she's ditched you, remember? That winter she faked her death and ran away. Have you forgotten your pain?"

Suddenly, countless images flashed through his mind.

There was a crashing plane, a death list, and the endless rain in Bay City.

It felt like a massive wave of pain hit him all at once, causing Darwin to have a brief spasm.

Fiona shouted, "Darwin!"

"Fake!" Darwin bent over, looking at her through tear-filled eyes. "I know he's my hallucination. I asked, and it's not serious. You just don't want me anymore!"

"Darwin, don't be so shameless!" Burl couldn't take it anymore and shouted angrily, "Have you really forgotten that night at the lake in Central Park when you almost strangled Fiona, or are you just pretending to forget? Just for that, you can't live with Fiona, Charles, and Chicago until you're cured!"

"Burl!" Fiona looked at Burl in shock.

Burl was breathing heavily, his eyes also red.

"Why? You've suffered so much, and in the end, he still blames you! You've cried your eyes dry these past few days! Just because he's sick, does everything have to go his way?"

Burl shouted, then turned to Darwin. "Darwin, if you're a man, don't force Fiona. Walk into the research institute yourself, and keep Fiona, Charles, and Chicago in your heart. Get well! We'll all be waiting for you at home!"

As he spoke, Burl's tears started to fall.

Darwin was panting heavily.

In his mind, some blurry images appeared again.

At the bottom of a dimly lit lake, he was about to suffocate, and in front of him was another version of himself, looking at him with malice. His arm was wrapped around Fiona's neck, tightening continuously.

"Hubert!" Fiona shouted.

Hubert immediately stepped forward.

He had anticipated that Darwin might not cooperate, so he had prepared a sedative.

Darwin was now showing symptoms of difficulty breathing.

Hubert quickly administered the sedative.

Darwin was still holding Fiona's hand, but he had no strength left. After a brief struggle, he collapsed into Fiona's arms.
