Chapter 1122

Did she make it so obvious that even Chicago noticed?

"Sweetie, it's normal for me to worry because your Daddy's hurt. Don't let it bother you," Fiona reassured.

Chicago just nodded, lips pursed.

Leaving his room, Fiona went downstairs, poured a glass of water, and sipped it slowly.

Janna emerged from the study and saw Fiona alone on the sofa.

"What's wrong?" she asked gently.

Fiona smiled. "Just put Chicago to sleep. Did you just finish work?"

"Had a small meeting," Janna said, sitting across from her. "Heard Darwin had some issues at the company today."

"Nothing serious, he handled it," Fiona replied. "He's investigating who was behind it."

She briefly explained the situation to Janna.

Janna frowned slightly. "Seems like this was all for your benefit."

"But the plan was too simple. Even if Darwin hadn't noticed the issues in the project proposal, he could've easily fixed it," Fiona continued.

"The goal wasn't to help you or trouble Darwin. They want to plant doubt in Darwin's mind," Janna paused. "In simple terms, they want to create a rift between you two."

"Yes," Fiona responded, then mocked. "Even if the person who got that medical report isn't close to Darwin, they must have access to someone who is. Unfortunately, they still see Darwin as he was in the past."

Darwin's priorities had long shifted towards his family.

So this plan was doomed from the start.

"There's another possibility," Janna looked at Fiona. "He might have had no other choice but to take this measure."

How many fools are there around Darwin?

Fiona pondered. "I think your possibility is more likely."

"Alright, don't worry about it," Janna patted Fiona's hand. "His plan will be exposed soon. Get some rest; you have to get up early to take the kids to school."

"Okay," Fiona nodded.

Janna yawned, said 'goodnight,' and went to her room.

The living room dimmed.

Fiona traced the rim of her cup with her fingertips.

She already knew who it was.

If it was him, what was the reason?

It started to drizzle outside.

Fiona turned off the light, and went upstairs.

After a shower, Darwin had just finished a work call.

He came out of the small study in their suite.

He naturally took the dry towel from Fiona's hand and began to dry her hair.

Fiona's gaze fell on his bandaged wrist.

"Why isn't it healed yet?" she frowned.

"It's scabbed over," Darwin replied. "But the wrist often gets rubbed, so I decided to keep it wrapped for a few more days to avoid irritation."
