Chapter 1439

Ethan.

Darwin pressed his lips together.

"Chicago was really down for a long time after he just up and left the country," Fiona said, sounding helpless. "She was one of the few good friends he made after leaving the island, and she even saved his life."

"I get it," Darwin said softly. "If Ethan wants to come back, I'll make sure it happens ASAP."

"I asked Randy a couple of months ago, and Ethan said he's not coming back," Fiona sighed. "But he's doing great now, his grades are top-notch."

In a school like that, excelling means his future's looking bright.

"Anyway, don't pull a stunt like this again, okay?" Fiona gave Darwin a light slap on the back.

Darwin nodded, "Alright, I'll listen to my wife!"

"Okay, I've said my piece. Now, Mr. Solomon, what do you want me to do?" Fiona said playfully, poking Darwin's cheek.

Darwin hugged Fiona.

After a moment of thought, he said, "If I have to wish for something, I wish you'd worry less, eat better, and stay healthy."

Fiona was taken aback.

"Alexander said your health isn't great," Darwin buried his head in her neck, gently stroking her hair. "From now on, I'm not going anywhere. I'll stay by your side and help you get better."

Fiona had a tough childbirth, followed by a severe illness that nearly took her life. Combined with overwork, her health had taken a hit.

"Alright, then it'll be hard on you, honey," Fiona said softly, her tone full of warmth.

Darwin didn't say anything. He lifted his head and moved closer to Fiona, gently kissing her lips, then deepening the kiss.

Just as things were heating up, the doorbell rang.

"Hold on, someone's at the door," Fiona turned her head, taking a few deep breaths.

Darwin leaned down, annoyed, and said, "If it's a salesperson, they're in trouble!"

With that, Darwin got up and walked towards the door.

Fiona quickly tidied herself up, worried that if it was indeed a salesperson, Darwin might scare them off. She hurried after him.

Darwin opened the door.

At first, he didn't see anyone.

"Isn't Fiona back?"

Following the voice, Darwin saw a small, hunched elderly woman with silver hair and a wrinkled face, standing at the door with a cane.

Because she was so short and Darwin was so tall, he hadn't noticed her initially.

"Gia."

Fiona's voice came from behind.

Darwin stepped aside.

"Fiona's back!" Gia's toothless mouth made her speech a bit unclear, but her face was full of smiles. "My great-granddaughter came home from school and said someone was staying here. I thought she was mistaken!"

"We arrived last night, went to pay respects to my grandparents this morning, and just got back. Gia, please come in and sit!"

"No, no, I have to go back and watch the kids do their homework," Gia said cheerfully, her gaze falling on Darwin.

Fiona quickly introduced, "Gia, this is my husband Darwin. Darwin, Gia watched me grow up. When I wasn't here, she helped look after the yard every month."

"Hello," Darwin greeted politely.

Gia's eyes crinkled with a smile. "Not bad, not bad, a fine young man. My granddaughter has mentioned you both many times. I wondered why you hadn't brought him over to meet us. Now I've finally run into you!"

"That's my fault, work has been too busy," Fiona replied.

"What about the kids? Did you bring them?" Gia asked.

"Not this time. Maybe around New Year's, I'll bring both kids over to your place to play."
