Chapter 1367
Charlotte strolled back to Chicago.
"Has Charles eaten?" Chicago asked, her mouth stuffed with chocolate. Ashton wasn't a fan of chocolate.
Kenny had bought it for the kids.
Ashton loved to eat.
Kenny knew his food, so his picks were always spot on.
"Yeah, he's playing a game. I didn't want him to get his hands dirty, so I just popped it in his mouth," Charlotte said, hands in her pockets. She wasn't into those sweet, greasy treats.
Christopher had warned her that indulging in them could lead to a sugar trap.
Sweetness could numb the senses, making people feel safe, and that's when danger often struck.
Chicago's mouth formed an 'o'.
"What's up?" Charlotte grabbed a tissue and wiped the corner of Chicago's mouth.
Chicago shook her head. "Charlotte, only you would dare to stuff something into Charles's mouth. Even Mommy wouldn't!"
Charlotte shrugged. "Why wouldn't Mrs. Solomon dare? Mrs. Solomon can do anything!"
Chicago didn't know how to explain it to Charlotte. Some things you just had to experience to understand.
She thought about it but couldn't come up with an explanation, so she just kept eating before Janna got home.
Janna was worried about her getting fat, so she wasn't allowed to have too many snacks.
If Kenny didn't sneak her some food now and then, she'd be miserable!
Everyone was chatting.
Rose rarely spoke.
Most of the time, she was just observing.
So far, only Fiona's daughter seemed like a regular kid.
Maybe Rose had been staring at Chicago for too long.
Charlotte suddenly looked over with a sharp gaze.
Rose smiled at her, friendly.
Charlotte didn't respond, just looked away and kept watching Chicago eat.
Charlotte thought Chicago looked like a cute guinea pig when she ate.
Her deskmate secretly had one.
It ate until it was round and plump every day, then slept soundly in the desk.
Janna got home half an hour later.
She had just returned from a business trip.
To spend New Year's Eve with the family, she had rushed back.
She didn't pay much attention to the new guests at home.
After a polite greeting, she went on to have dinner as usual.
Tonight, the dining table was Wyatt's stage. He was trying to cheer up Janna.
But his efforts were just to make Janna happy, without any hidden agenda.
By the end of the meal, both Janna and Wyatt were a bit tipsy.
Wyatt held Janna's hand, tears in his eyes. "This year has been so tough for me!"
Janna knew why he was crying and patted his hand. "The New Year is coming, and everything from the past ends today. You may have missed a good girl, but life goes on. If you improve yourself, there will be other good girls in the future!"
"There won't be any more!" Wyatt's head hit the edge of the dining table, and he sobbed quietly, "There won't be anyone better than her."
Janna fell silent.
She raised her hand and gave Wyatt a pat on the back.
