Even though he despised Wyatt and Gideon with every fiber of his being, the Durham group meant something different to him.
Being an illegitimate child, he knew the Durham group's tradition: no inheritance for kids like him.
Lucian had put up with endless ridicule, enduring the mockery and sneers from others.
He followed Larry's orders to the letter, sticking close to Gideon to help him out.
At first, Larry didn't care much for him. Arabella handed over half of her shares to Wyatt, which was way more than what Lucian had worked so hard to get over the years.
How could Lucian not hate them?
What he had struggled to earn was handed to Wyatt and Gideon on a silver platter.
So, after taking down Gideon, Lucian didn't plan to sell the Durham group right away. Even before Gideon was kicked out as president, he tried to save the Durham group's shaky business.

After Gideon was ousted, overseas investors came knocking with a very tempting offer.

He wanted to become the chairman of the Durham group, to control it, just to show those who looked down on him and gave him disdainful looks.
But what was the point?
Since he couldn't make the Durham group thrive under his leadership, to strike a blow to the Durham family's pride,
Lucian decided to let the Durham group die in his hands, to make it disappear, as a form of revenge against the Durham family!
With this thought, he quickly sat down to negotiate with the overseas investors.
They offered a very tempting price.
But to sell the company, Lucian needed the signatures of eighty percent of the shareholders.
However, the Durham family alone held over thirty percent of the Durham group's shares.
This made selling the company a tough road.
Hearing that Evander had gone mad, Lucian thought that Gideon and Evander had reached their limit and would give in.
But then Wyatt, who had been out of the picture, came back.
Lucian looked at the stack of documents in Wyatt's hand.
"You went to negotiate a deal? What kind of deal?" he sneered, "These past few months, I haven't just been planning to sell the company; I've also thought about turning things around. But the Durham group's reputation has been trashed by you and your father. Now, no one is willing to work with the Durham group!"
"You're wrong." Wyatt shook his head. "No one is willing to work with you. I heard you approached QuantumLeap Technologies and Stellar Solutions group?"
Lucian was stunned.
