Chapter 1004 You Can't Threaten Me
The "director" remained silent and didn't call 'cut.'
To secure this role, Cheryl had no choice but to press on. "How dare you call me a bitch? You're the bitch! Connor and I have true love!"
As she spoke, Cheryl fought back against the leading actress, and they started to wrestle.
"Okay, cut," the "director" suddenly said.
Seeing Cheryl about to hit the leading actress, Christina signaled the "director" to call "cut."
Cheryl immediately stopped, stood up, tidied her clothes and hair, and happily ran to the "director." "Director, how did I do just now? I should be able to get this role, right?"
The "director" had completed all his tasks and naturally didn't bother with Cheryl anymore. He turned around and was about to leave.
Seeing the director silent, Cheryl immediately grabbed him.
She had been slapped several times for this audition and endured so much humiliation. She couldn't let the "director" leave just like that. "Director, what do you mean by this? I came to audition as per your request, got slapped and insulted, and now you're not saying anything? Can I get this role or not?"
The "director" disdainfully withdrew his hand. "It's not up to me. You need to ask our boss!"
"Boss? The investor? Then call the investor here. I'll talk to him." Cheryl's eyes lit up upon hearing that the investor was there.
You know, a typical investor usually had more than one project. If she could win his favor and get a few more roles, her path in the entertainment industry would be smooth.
The "director" nodded towards Chad, signaling him to bring Christina out from the observation room.
When Cheryl saw Christina appear in front of her again, she was a bit surprised but mostly disdainful. "Christina, why haven't you left yet? Still not giving up on competing for the role? I advise you to stop dreaming. I'm about to meet the investor of this show! This role is definitely mine!"
Christina looked at her calmly, "Don't you know? I'm their boss."
Cheryl was instantly shocked, looking at her in disbelief, and then burst out laughing. "You? An investor? Cheryl, stop joking! Weren't you just begging the director's assistant for the role? Stop pretending!"
"I'm not an investor; I'm the boss." Christina said, waving to the surrounding staff, "Thank you all for your hard work. Go to the finance department to get your pay."
As soon as Christina finished speaking, everyone present respectfully bowed to her, quickly packed up their things, and left in unison.
At this moment, only Christina and Cheryl were left in the studio. Cheryl had no choice but to believe that what Christina said was true.
"What's going on? Christina, did you really invest in this show?"
The ridiculous thing was, even now, Cheryl didn't doubt the existence of this show. She would rather believe that Christina invested in it than believe she was being deceived.
"This show doesn't exist. There were no cameras recording the audition just now," Christina told her the truth. "Cheryl, don't you love acting? I found so many people to act with you. Aren't you happy?"
Cheryl finally realized she had been tricked today. Her expression turned angry. "Christina, how dare you deceive me! What are you trying to do with this elaborate setup?"
As she spoke, she reached out to slap Christina to vent her anger.
Christina quickly stepped back, avoiding her slap. "Cheryl, you can't touch me now! If you lay a finger on me, I'll make sure everyone knows what you've done!"
Cheryl didn't believe her, but remembering how Christina had easily taken her advertisement opportunity, she hesitated and didn't dare to act rashly. "Christina, what do you mean?"
"Don't you know what I mean?" Christina pointed to several cameras nearby, "The audition cameras didn't record, but the surveillance cameras did. If I edit and post the footage online, do you think people will believe it's real? What will they say about you?"
Cheryl suddenly looked at the surveillance cameras and realized what was happening. She was furious. "How dare you frame me? Christina, you're so insidious! Even if you post it, no one will believe you."
"Really? Should we give it a try?" Christina took out her phone, pretending to call Billy to edit the video.
Cheryl was ultimately scared. She immediately reached out to grab Christina's phone. "Christina, don't you dare! If you post the video, I'll make sure Renee has a hard time in the Russell family."
It was laughable that Cheryl still thought she could use Renee to threaten Christina. What she didn't know was that after giving away those three million dollars, Christina had already decided never to consider Renee her mother again.
"Were you the one who posted the photos of Ruben and me online?" Christina asked as she put away her phone. "Cheryl, what were you thinking? In trying to ruin me, you've managed to offend the Rojas Group. Don't you realize it's not worth it?"
The Rojas Group had countless commercials to shoot every year. They had significant influence in the industry and could make or break the careers of some artists.
But now, Cheryl had slandered Ruben and Christina, completely offending the Rojas Group. If Christina could find out who was behind the rumors, wouldn't the Rojas Group be able to do the same?
Cheryl had blocked her own path, and the ridiculous thing was, she had no idea.
"Christina, I don't know what you're talking about! What photos? I didn't do it! But I warn you, if you dare post today's video online, I won't let you off." Cheryl had no real means, so she could only shout threats.
"Cheryl, do you think you have anything left to threaten me with?"
"I..." Cheryl wanted to say something harsh, but she realized that everything she could think of no longer mattered to Christina.
Back in the Russell family, Christina cared about her relationship with Renee and would compromise on many things for it.
But now, Christina no longer acknowledged Renee as her mother, so Cheryl had nothing to hold over her anymore.
