Chapter 780 Blind Date Without Good Men

Teresa was speechless. "You were more than just a little late."

The man raised his arm, rolled up his sleeve, and revealed his branded watch. "Oh, it's already been over forty minutes! I'm really sorry, Ms. Harris. I didn't realize how late it had gotten."

Teresa had initially been hopeful about this blind date, but now she was ready to make an excuse and leave as soon as possible.

Before Teresa could say anything, the man adjusted his thick, heavy glasses and grinned, "Anyway, we've met now, so let's not worry about little things! Ms. Harris, it's nice to meet you. Let me introduce myself first!"

Teresa raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Little things? You mean like being over forty minutes late?'

Without waiting for Teresa to say anything, the man confidently began his self-introduction.

"My name is Delbert Loomis, I'm a graduate student at the top-ranked university in Markovia. I'm looking for a genuine connection and hope to find someone special. What about you, Ms. Harris?"

Teresa sized him up. Since she had already sat down when she first saw him, she couldn't tell if he was really 6 feet tall. But judging by his chubby face, his weight was definitely 200 pounds, if not more!

"Hello, Mr. Loomis. My name is Teresa. I don't think there's a need for me to introduce myself. I feel we might not be a good match," Teresa said with a polite but firm smile.

Hearing this, Delbert frowned in confusion, "Why? Why do you think we're not a good match so quickly? Ms. Harris, you actually give me a good impression. You're quite attractive, except you're a bit old. You seem to meet my expectations."

Teresa was taken aback. Was Delbert actually being selective about her?

"What do you mean by I'm a bit old? How old are you?" Teresa asked.

Delbert nodded confidently, "I'm only twenty-eight. My friends and family all think I'm young and promising. I always tell them not to say that, or I'll get arrogant, haha."

Teresa chuckled, "Mr. Loomis, twenty-eight is indeed young, but I'm only twenty-six. Why do you say I'm old? Isn't that strange?"

Delbert shook his head seriously, "Look, Ms. Harris, we're both adults here, so I'm going to be straightforward. We're on a blind date, so let's be practical. You're twenty-six, with a moderate level of education, working as a clerk without significant career prospects. While you take good care of yourself, you would likely depend on me financially in the future. Honestly, many men might see women over twenty-five differently. I think it's important to be realistic about these things. It's not common for someone in my position to overlook these factors."

Teresa was momentarily speechless.

She had seen self-confident people before, but never someone who boasted so much!

And he thinks he was a catch? Where did he get that confidence?

Feeling annoyed but mindful that he was her mother's friend's son, she didn't want to be too harsh.

Seeing Teresa's silence, Delbert assumed his words had convinced her. He then flashed a smile he thought was mature and charming and said, "Ms. Harris, you don't need to introduce yourself! I've heard plenty about you from my family. I don't care about your past, so you don't need to feel self-conscious. Let's give it a shot!"

Teresa couldn't believe he had more bewildering things to say. "You don't care about my past? Excuse me, what exactly do you mean by that?"

Delbert replied, "I heard you almost got married before! It was quite a scene at the wedding, and you ended up breaking it off, right?"

Teresa nodded. That was true, but so what?

Delbert shook his head, "You need to have a clear understanding. To most men, a girl with your past would be seen as damaged goods! But I don't mind those things and am willing to overlook societal views to accept you. What are you hesitating for?"

What? Damaged goods?

How dare he say that about her!

Teresa couldn't hold back her anger any longer!

"Mr. Loomis, have you taken a good look at yourself? I didn't want to judge you by your appearance and hurt your self-esteem! But since you're being so rude, I don't see why I should hold back. You're not just ugly; you don't even look twenty-eight. You look forty-eight! Older than my dad!

Don't try to pass this off as being mature and stable! I've seen mature and stable men, and they look nothing like you!

And yes, my education might not be the highest, so what? My family is wealthy! I don't need a degree to live comfortably, buy whatever I want, and be pampered by my family! Are you jealous?

I almost got married once, that's true! But how can someone as educated as you did not understand such a basic logical concept?

Almost getting married means I didn't get married! Do you understand what 'almost' means? If not, maybe you should go back to school and brush up on your basic logic! What's the point of having a degree if you can't grasp simple concepts? And you have the nerve to look down on others' education?"

Hearing Teresa's harsh words, Delbert turned red with anger and embarrassment. "You!"
